I went through early menopause, being tested as post menopausal at age 42. The transition had been masked by being on the pill. I have now been on HRT 9 years. I have tried to come off it 3 times with disastrous outcomes, it affects my mind - ability to concerntrate, comprehend, basically function. Emotionally a mess too. Up until a month a go I was in professional job, fairly pressured and I would not have been able to have held that job down without HRT. A specialist has suggested that to enable me to come off a combined oral HRT (Kliovance) I should have a Mirena fitted and take estrogen only. I am considering having the Mirena fitted and would like to hear from anyone who has had similar problems who has had a Mirena fitted. I have also been on Celapram (anti depressant) for 3 years - endogenous depression. I get very tired. Health otherwise good, with only approx 10 days off work in 20 years.

I opted for an endometrial ablation for that very reason ! All the things the Mirena was meant to fix it made worse ! Everybodies body is different, and I am sure for some people it works beautifully. Not me however. Look into endometrial ablation. Also, does anyone know how to combat your boobs enlarging during menopause ? Or is this just another unwanted side effect ? Mine have gone from an aceptable D, through DD then E and now I am too afraid to be refitted, as I suspect they are now F !
