Go the All Blacks, and my DH tells me the Ferns as well. I'm sure the AB game was great - but sleeping on the couch was better...

Glad to hear Charli is doing well

The messy naps continue here - maybe teething poos? Not that he has had them before when teething and these have gone on for about 3 weeks with no sign of teeth - far out that will be different - something other than reflux as an issue!

Emily is still really bad poor darling. Up every hour last night crying in obvious pain.

Totally refusing food, and vomiting up the small amount of toast I did manage to get in hr. Also choking on water now and it is coming out her nose.

Will play it by ear for the rest of the day, but will probably take her back to teh docs later today.

Stink bout Milly, any temps? She has had a rough illness patch. You have done well for her to hold her weight. 2 min noodles are a good fun food to play with, sometimes they go in sometimes they don't but least it brings some enjoyment back to the dinner table. Poor wee mouse

Arghhhh excellent.
Sorry to hear about Milly & Emily. These babies keep us on our toes that's for sure. (My mother used to tell me - what's an issue today for babies is bound to change and be a new isue tomorrow). Shame that reflux clouds everything and makes it challenging for us to be able to identify what exactly is going on.

My DD still dribbling heaps but teething has settled down for past 2 days. In fine form this morning, drinking well and burped ok although not as good as what I'd like.

Well off to give her next feed and then she's down for her first nap (fingers crossed it will exceed one hour)!

Yesterday back to one hour naps - sigh - tiring!

Kat - Emily and Milly are one and the sme. We call her Milly Mouse as a nickname and it has kind of stuck. (Sarah named her this at birth)

Hugs to Milly!!!
Dribble city here too but really not too much worrying her
Well Charli decided to wake at 11 we tired the bottle and thought she resettled but no she was wide awake. Ended up having to get her up at 12 and tried to put her down again at 1....little rat bag didnt go to sleep til 2 o clock...in our bed!!!!! Think it was the teeth moving aroun but she was spilling abit too but not in pain that I could tell!
I remember Cam going thru a wee wake up ply period at around nine months so can only go with the flow and not promote play during night time...very hard when they screaming loudly in a happy way! Just pleased she didnt wake her bro.
Woohoo finally we won the netball. Who won the rugby€?

Ahh Suomi, I must be blonde!
Oh no more vomiting - hope today settled down!!!

I'm doing morning drop offs to the girls college so getting DD up at 7am. Seemed to work ok this morning, but lots of spilling this afternoon. Changed her bath around also as I have to pick up the girls at 5.20pm.

Wind still sticky but no pain with it today so that's good.
Cold up here in Auckland today and frost this morning brghhh. Had to pour several buckets of cold water over the 4WD to break the ice.

Gotta run, pick up some vegies for dinner b/4 picking up the girls.

Hope you guys also had a better day!

Yip Angelkells, my Paed appt on Thursday - looking forward to it.

Got dd up at 7am then spill/spill all the way to the girls college. Just got back home (45 min round trip) and Miss 15 rings and says that she left her cross country spikes here at home! Back in the car to school - 5 mins from home DD just started to go to pieces. Good baby though tolerating that trip twice. Now fed in her highchair watching mickey mouse.
Day naps turn to custard with all the dropping off and picking up as she naps in the car.
Very extreme wind pain with last bottle, lots of tears and squirming.

Paed appt tomorrow (not that we can do anything further) it's just a case of riding through this I think.

Well off to amuse her before I try giving her a nap.

hugs to others, how are you all doing?

No I'm still around - living in hell but still here.
Haven't had much time to post as I'm up to my eye balls in vomit and washing. Plus two very demanding cling ons.

I think I've been to the doctor every day this week - bunch of idiots. I'm sure they think I'm the neurotic mother from hell. We're on day 6 of vomit city and no poos since Friday (sorry TMI). I don't want to jinx it but there may be some light at the end of the very long black tunnel....we only had one vomit today and she ate more today than the last 3 days combined - still not enought to keep a sparrow alive but something at least. I weighed botht he girls tonight on our scales. Emily has lost 400g and Sarah 600g - both are starting to look a bit skinny. Oh well the both actually ate two dinners tonight so maybe tomorrow they will eat more.
Hubyy is takign the next two days off as he is exhausted and I'm nearing the end of my patience. I have someone attached to me at all times and I need some space to breathe!
Went to the naturopath today who was great. Emily screamed and squirmed the whole time we were there which was good for her to see. She has put us on some new pro-biotics which help promote the immune system and a weleda product to help build up her immunity and promote her appitite. Plus a couple of tonics to help settle her tum. I've about had it with traditional medicine at the moment so anything is worth a try.
She aggreed with me that the vaccinations have really knocked her immune system about and becasue it it compromised she is picking up everything and isn't able to fight them very well.
I've made the decision int he last few days not to continue with her immunisations until she is older and stronger - probably close to 5. I just don't think her little body can handle it.

Amongst the sheer hell that has been this week both girls have been very cute. Emily has learned how to do round and round the garden on herself and cracks herself up every time. She is terrorising the cat and her sister and follows me everywhere going mum mum mum.

Right off the eat ice-cream - that will make me feel better.

Hope you are all well.
Don't forget to post!
And don't worry Kat, it may be jsut us but we are super cool!!!!

Mel

I am hibernating trying to catch up on all the work (actually paid job stuff as opposed to motherhood) I have supposed to have done but haven't thanks to Ian's weird sleeps again during the day. Not sure if he is trying to tell me that he only wants one sleep a day (no please not yet) Plus he has gone all hyperactive - tonight he actually hit the dog - and that is unlike him - he is well learnt on the 'gentle gentle' approach - don't know if it was the lack of sleep combo or him reaching another phase. Anyway need to hibernate a bit more and will write more in a few days - maybe on the weekend when I have got some paid work out of the way.

Food intake going unusally well though but still the messy naps.

hibernate, hibernate...

Tyde had his jabs last week.. and I think may have had a slight delayed reaction over the weekend.. OR could've been that I gave him some tinned veg on Saturday.. I didn't think he actually swallowed any (he gags constantly on solids, so isn't ready yet.. but thought I'd offer on the off chance) anyway, he was a misery guts, Sunday and Monday. up and down all Sunday night.. and up from 4am Monday morning.. FINALLY got him to have a nap at 12.20 pm.. and he slept for 2 and a half hours.. thank you lord! seems a wee bit better today and is still smiling, good little man.. spilling heaps too! oh well.. the joys...
you know what (I'm sure you do).. those smiles just vanish teh stress when they appear though eh!! my boy is soooo good at smiling when he wakes up etc.. that I cannnot help but smile at him constantly.. he must think I look like a goofball!!!! ;\)

fi, my first born is a very hyperactive little guy and kicked afternoon naps at about 2! wahhhh... but I heard that the best thing to do is to get them to 'rest' in their room (QUIET PLAY) for a set amount of time... because at least they rest a wee bit. My eldest is 4 now, and when I see him losing the plot and I KNOW he won't have a nap, I get him to lay in my bed and watch one of his movies... SOMETIMES (not often) he will fall asleep while watching it. and if he doesn;t, at least he's had a 'rest'.
hugs girly! hmmmm paid work... !sounds nice!! ;\) will be doing some of that when I go back to work in September...!

Fi- Emily dropped to one sleep at around 11 months adn Sarah was pretty much on the dot of one. So maybe this is what he is trying to do. It took both the girls a while to get int he swing of only having one sleep. For a while they would only do and hour and then this started stretching out. Before she got sick Emily was doing between 2.5 to 3 hours. At around 18 months Sarah would do 3.5 hours - so hopefully Emily will dot eh same as it give me time with my Sarah Bear.

Paid work that would be nice. I was thinking it was time to go back teaching for a day, but after the last week I'm not sure. I might wait until Emily is a bit older and stronger. I"m not sure I'm ready to leave her yet anyway. I went back for one day when Sarah was one but I'm a bit more wussy now. I'd love to have one day of being the old me and seeing teacher friends and teaching some big kids.

Ahh yes - awake and very unhappy at 9.00, resettled by himself , <10mins (thanks to his thumb) be interesting to see how the rest of the night pans out. The crying always sounds horrific over the monitor (this is one of the reasons why I am loathe to give up his 2 naps as they are a lottery length wise thanks to his continued refluxing in his sleep and his nights although generally ok can be a bit weird too.) My rule of thumb is before 10 then it is reflux, after 10pm other baby stuff, teeth, hot or cold, sick.

I am only doing 7 hrs per week of paid work so it is not much and it is all from home - no way I can trust anyone with Ian just yet.

Kells- Good luckfor today! Hope you can get some answers for Leo...poor baby and mum! Thinking of ya babe.
Mel- Has the vomitting stopped? Big hugs to you
Kat- good luck for appointment tomorrow. Hope it is productive too.
Us- charli just had an appointment with head and neck surgeon to check out her tonsils, adenoids and weather she needed grommets. Her bro has had all done..but she seems to be ok at the moment. No fluid in the let ear and couldnt see in right one due to wax but thinks all should be fine as I say her reflux pain out does any other pain so generally she not to bad if other pain is getting her.
In saying that she has a bad croupy cough at the moment which is topped with probable head cold...again..when do the bugs leave her alone...arrrh.
Right she grizzly now as I had to wake her to take her so early nap i think..which will make today very long and grumpy!
How is everyone elses day going?

Hey all,

Well no vomit oday!! (yet)
She was doing so well yestereday, had dinner went down and I went a ruined it by giving her losec. I think she gagged on a granule and chucked up everything in her bed - nice. She then spent the night in bed with me and Daddy slept in the lounge well away from the noise of two sick kids. Poor bugger, he was just about ready to fall over after working all weekend and starting work at 6.00 every day this week. At least he is home today adn we are all resting.
I think Emily may be on the mend (touch wood) She doesn't really want her milk and farax but has been nibbling on noodles and bread for luch. Plus she is drinking again today which was my biggest concern yestereday. Sarah is still quite sqiffy int eh tum and not eating much - but better as well.

Maybe the long black tunnel has a pin prick of light at the end of it.

Anyway, have had some nice family dramas to give me something else to think (and moan) about.

Off for some retail therapy. Need some new storage space for Sarah - the amount of stuff you accumlate is ridiculous! I literaly have to squash her clothes in her drawers at the moment.

Hope all the baby and little ones are well.

Any one heard from Dolphin????

Hi all, Just a quick update before i start on tea. We met with the surgeon today he wants Leo to go over to Waikato for a couple days. Be put under for a upper GI scope, while under he will do the bowel biopsy to check for a few more things & insert a 24hour ph probe. IM pretty upset about the whole things seems so mean, but i know its for the best. LIke the surgeon said we need this process of elimination to help Leo.

Take care everyone i will be back later for personal :P

HIa ll

Sorry we've been AWOL... a combo of things going ok for a bit, then a lot of sickness, much the same as always.

Kells - huge hugs to you babe, I really hope that you get to find out more of what is happening with your gorgeous wee boy... and soon!
Leanne - Sorry to hear about CAitlin... it was just so wonderful those first few weeks and I really hope that the new surgery means you get to haev that laughing chatty wee girl again (and forever this time!)
Gutzc - it seems like Charli and Zoe are always doing teh same stuff at much the same time - we've had more than our share of croup etc over last few weeks

Well, Zoe is doing ok. Losec been bumped up a bit as she was getting pain again plus the spilling returned. I still can't go near dairy (and neither can she). She's up to her fourth ear infection (not counting the times where there is just fluid in the ear). She was also hospitalised in the weekend for breathing difficulties, related to croup AND broncoleaitis.

I am so tired but keep soldiering along as even when in pain Zoe tries to be a smiley wee thing. Finlay is in a weird space at the moment - he's not sleeping well at all. I've managed to improve him from 30 wake ups to 5 but the 5 plus around 2+ for Zoe is tiring. I really feel for you others (like Kells) that see little sleep at all... at least mine is just a phase of a few weeks as opposed to months.

Anyway, just wanted to say "Hi" and tell you that although I haven't been posting I do lurk and think of you all often

Megan

Hi all,

First off Kells - hope you get some answers at the hospital. Poor little Leo! I hate the feeling of beign useless and things getting worse when they should be getting better.
Keep us posted as to when you are going.

The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter! No vomits today and both girls are eating small amounts. Emily is still squrimy and whingy and only wants me, but at least everything has stayed down today. Plus having daddy at home makes things mentally easier!
Hopefully tomorrow we will see even more of an iprovement - and more eating. Both girls feel all bony a ndnot like my little squishies.

Hopefully going away next week to the Coromandel which has given me something to look forward to. Some nice quality time with Grandma, with dinner cooked by someone else! Beach walks and fresh air will hopefully makes my girls healthy again.

Right off to bed. Maybe I'l get more than the 4 hours I got last night!

Kells, I know the tests aren't nice and its not fun seeing your little one having to go through them, bt hopefully they will give the surgeon and the paeds some much needed answers as to where to go next with wee leo.

To everyone else with sick wee bubbies at the moment (((((HUGE HUGS)))), hang in there and try and get as much rest as you can when you can. Don't worry about the housework....it will wait for you!

Megan-Thanks for the chat on msn & well done again on all the weightloss. I hope Zoe is feeling better and you got some sleep, more than 3 hours! I think us mommys have a overdrive switch and just soldier on. I know im really lucky with leo he is alot better off than alot of the bubs on here and im really grateful for that.

Lynne~Hugs hobey hope you get on well at the paeds today let us know how u get on :P

Gutzc~how are you today babe?

Suomi~How are things at your house today? Your holiday sounds lovely :P I would love that \:\)

Kat1~how are you getting on? were u going to paeds this week?

OMG i cant believe it Leo slept all night last night! only woke stirring and grizzling and not screaming in pain with cramps! Yah! The last time i thought he slept all night DH told me the other day he got up to him and had him in the lounge so i could sleep LOL I keep thinking in the back of my mind Leo will hopefully get well in the 4-6weeks we have to wait. I am so hoping so. It seems to silly me worrying about leo having these tests when your babys have had major operations :P

Well i had better get moving having my DH grandmother over this morning.

Take care everyone :P

Can a ask a question to those with older reflux kids.... did things improve once they were upright and walking????? Reason im asking was i was talking to a lady at the paeds surgeons clinic and she said all 3 of her kids got worse at crawling stage & were ok by walking????? Or is that unusual??? Seemed logical to me at the time.

Hi Kells
Actually thinking back Tobys day sleep improved hugely when he started walking, I put it down too him using more energy but maybe things were starting to get better on the reflux front. But as I've said before his was more diet related. How far whats leo up to is he nearly walking?? I also wondered with the walking that they start to have other things to think about so the pain is more manageable to them ( i don't know just guessing) Hope things get better for you soon.

I live in hope that there will be an improvement when we are walking and molars are through. Not sure about refluxing that still occurs during sleeps though - generally worse during the day for me.

Yay for Leo and his sleeping - maybe the neocate is beginning to settle things down - it was 6 weeks for Ian before I noticed an improvement.

Ian vomited in his bed last night (as opposed to spilling). He has been patchy for a few nights and last night at 9 he woke up crying and in was getting upset quite quickly so off I trundled to resettle him and then I sat in with him until he was fully asleep. Then this morning there was spuke in his bed and I don't know when he did it as when I dealt with him in the night I did it all in the dark. There wasn't any vomit smell at that time nor could I feel any dampness so I don't think it was then -was ok for the rest of the night and bright as a button this morning. Some coughing and snuffles going and one tooth on the cusp of coming through. But now I am wondering if the cat is irritating him too.

all the best for the upcoming nuptials Lyn and for Jayden

Kat - how was the paed's visit

Hugs to you Megan - your little reflux journey sounds like it is still interesting.

Nice holiday Mel - somehow we are off to the deep south (Queenstown and Invercargill) in the middle of winter - still am looking forward to it.

Oh yeah as for positive reflux stories I have gotten 3 of my friends to go on reduced dairy and dairy free diets respectively to get away with no meds for one baby, and gaviscon only for the other - the 3rd is still at the early stages of the DF but is happy with how it is going.

Sally~Leo is upright alot more than he was walking round things & taking the odd unsupported steps.. but not walking as such. Thinking about it He is always alot worse when crawling & has to stop to spill choke gagg or whatever IYKWIM. Leo accidently got fed the mixed farex the other day by DH & that really made the cramps and reflux alot worse. diet wise we already stricat so i think ive exausted that avenue at this stage :P Thanks for your reply. Is Toby totally off meds now?

Fi~How scary about the vomitting in bed, very scary indead! I still use my monitor im very paranoid, leos 1 apnea was 1 too many for me! I too often resettle leo with the light off so understand how i could of easily missed it? or maybe Ian spewed in the morning???? wow interesting stories about your friends kids with reflux. MUm informed me the other day htat i had constant runs as a baby so its obviuos that i had issues with cows milk. Leo has been on the neocate about 6 weeks so hopefully differences will start to show soon. Hes drinking it so well!At least while he on it i can rule out the formula upsetting him LOL

Does anyone use Gaviscon leo has been on 2 sachets a bottle since a new born. I am thinking of trying to wean him off it again. The other times ive tried have been a nightmare... I cant help but think the constipation and gaviscon are related. Feel free to correct me if im wrong.

sorry to rave, hope the kids are feeling good today, hugs to all that need them :P

Hey all, angelkells my hugs are with you. Suomi hope things are settling down now god you had a huge dose of all that vomit stuff and non eating. Fi hope Ian is more settled, I've got all that vomit in the bed stuff to come no doubt!

DD is off today, had red cheeks for 2 days and she's squirming and tightening when drinking. Mega spills/vomits this week - probably all the driving the girls to/from school etc. Sleeping during the day sux but that's to be expected with the disruption in routine (not that days have ever been good for us). Paed today at 1.30pm I don't expect anything new to evolve from the appt though.

God DD's screaming out gotta run get her organised for the trip into Greenland.

Hugs to you all - this refluxland stuff is a blardy nightmare

Kells

Just from our personal experience on crawling/walking and refluxing..... Caitlin walked first (on her first birthday) and crawled about a week later. Her reflux was shocking when she started walking because she fell onto her bottom alot, so each time she fell down.....all her food and milk came up and out!! It was possible that this happened with Caitlin because the valve at the top of her tummy didnt work to keep her food etc down, so we might be of a minority. Caitlin hated crawling as she refluxed something horrible, so has never done alot of it.

Kind of funny looking back.....I could always find where she was in the house.....I just followed the reflux patches on the carpet!!

Never feel silly for worrying about the test Leo is having done compared to others having major surgery......as having been through both, you still feel similar anxiety.

With the tests that you are facing, it will be much more difficult for you than Leo and he will bounce back really fast. The day Caitlin had her scope, biopsies and tumor removed she was bouncing on the couch by the end of the day, where as I was a total emotional wreck!!! The things our kids put us through, eh!!!

Hang in there, and really hope the next 4-6 weeks go fast for you.

Hope all you other ladies have had an ok day.

Kat, how was the paed appointment?

Take care

We found Emily's reflux was worse when she started crawling/walking too, all that constant falling over. Once she was confident in walking that was the end of all the spilling except when things were really bad, then we found she would bring things up really easily.

Our carpet is stuffed, was brand new a few months before Emily was born.

Hi

I'm in a long black tunnel with very littel light showing at the other end.....

Still pukey city here.
I thought we were on the home stretch for a while yesterday and today but it all blew up again this afternoon. Although I'm not entirely sure it is all tummy bug.

Emily has been doing pretty well. Eating a bit and her spark was back today.
Well, (insert big sigh) this afternoon I was making her custard and she put her spoon in the powder and put it in her mouth, gagged and chucked. I settled her and gave her the custard which she ate. We then visited my mum and I gaved her a tonic from the naturopath which she obviously didn't like the taste of, gagged and chucked everything up. (all over my mum, and it polled in her shirt pocket) Came home for dinner which she really wanted, chocked on a piece of pasta and chucked. By this point we were both very distressed. Poor little Sarah is sitting at the table looking very sad and worried. I took Emily to the doctor.

Came home to find my sister here as after I had left Sarah chucked everywhere. Hubby is scrubbing vomit off the floor Sarah is in the bath crying for me. She then continued to chuck for an hour. I actually wonder if her vomiting was an emotional response to Emily vomiting???? She is a sensitive little soul and things really affect her.

So after all of this Emily is whinging her arse off. Finally figured out she was probably starving. So fed her again and she ate heaps happily. My biggest fear in all of this is that it would put her off food when she already has lots of issues.

So both in bed smelling like puke. Emily hasn't had her losec tonight. I'm too scared to give it to her in case she gags and vomits again, so hopefully this is not going to be a huge issue.

So that's my lot. Hubby is staying home again tomorrow as I have two cling ons and he can't get his head around work with it is so frantic here.

Every night I go to bed hoping tomorrow will be better....so fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Kat - how did your appointmetn go today?

Has any one heard how Roz's appointment for her eldest daughter went?

Off to collapse.

Oh god Suomi sorry to hear of things spiralling downhill you poor thing. I hope the girls sleep well tonight and that the vomiting stops!!!! Well our Paed appt went as expected.

Weight gain good now 6.5kg so all the spilling vomiting isn't affecting her yet (which is excellent). He's happy with how she's been doing and we have our SA number so thats peace of mind. Back to see him in 3 months and I'm to stop her afternoon dose of losec 2 weeks beforehand (5mg) to see how she goes. He said if she doesn't cope at all give it straight back to her so that's good. No need to increase the losec as she is well managed at the moment aside from her chucking but he explained there is nothing we can do to prevent that with the refluxing aside from gaviscon to help.

Difficult day for DD as we had lots of in the car time several times today and she went to pieces come the last part of the picking up of the girls. Loads of large spills/vomits today but I'm becoming to accept this and not stress about it. (It's her!!!)

I asked him about the probiotics I have in my fridge (and I paid $30+) for it but hadn't given to her yet and he said to hold off at this stage (her being so young). So that's good to know.

Referring us to a dietician re: and next huge hill will be solids (somewhere I do not want to go and not looking forward to it). So DD has an intolerance to cows milk protein and is luckily much more settled on the neocte formula - I guess the fun begins or continues with solids at 6 months.

Lovely Paed and super lovely with DD when he checked her out (no protests from her). Makes a change from the only one other Paed we saw who we found very stoney and clinical.

Anyway that's our Paed visit now over for another 3 months!

Gotta run guys & get my head down - all this running around and I'm knackered.

Hugs to you all and thanks for asking about DD!
I hope you all have a peaceful nights sleep.

Suomi - You DESERVE a nice long, uninterrupted sleep and no vomit tomorrow!!!!!!!!

Oh Suomi, you poor thing.
We had a 'similar' thing when Reef was young and after some 'poo' testing, he was found to have camplobactyr?sp) whch they think may've been a not totally cooked chicken nugget....! I just remember the CONSTANT spewing/pooing and it was soooooo sad and horrible for him (and for me!)... I hope whatever it is disappears quickly.
Had a terrible night wth Tyde.. I think it's a cold coming on.. but who knows.. I sletp upright in the lazyboy with him on me crying on and off till 3am, and then I put him back to his bed and I went to bed till justbefore 6am... hmmm fun fun fun!
HOPEFULLY he'l be a happy chappy today.
Kat, great paed visit! we have our dietitian update apptment next week to discus solids.. the few times I've tried them with Tyde he's had issues.... so will not be rushing with that!!!
better go and get dressed.. feeling a bit like a zombie.. am thankful I'm not back at work yet.. (go back in September)... as I'm not sure how i'll focus on working after a night like last!
hugs girliesx

Hi all

Now hubby has it!!

Emily seems a bit better thismoring - eating quite a bit and generally cheerful.. Sarah is still fragile and off her food. Both girls want me all th time which is tiring.
Fingers crossed food stays sown today.

Just a quick one from me.
Emily is down so I have to run around was pukey clothes and try and get some sort of order restored to my bomb site of a house.

Glad paed appointmetn went well Kat.
Hope Tyde is feeling better today. Lack of sleep sucks and makes everything harder!

Paed appt sounds all good Kat - good you have found one you are comfortable with.

Ian has a cold (either a teething one or a real one) not sure cause he is fairly bright but coughing through the night - are there any safe cough medicines for this age? We are no where near requiring a visit to the Dr's at this stage so thought I would find out from you guys

Mel - I like it when one of the adults get sick - as they can communicate and then you know what the issues are with your little ones too - so I rely on my DH also getting a cold and then conveying to me the symptoms - I don't really get sick that often and my symptoms for what Ian seems to have equated to a scratchy throat on tues and wed morning for all of about 1 hr when I first got up. My DH usually falls a bit harder than that and gives a truer picture of what is going on with Ian. Still the messy naps continue in this house but in manageable numbers (a max of 2 per day but usually only one)

He also got his first black eye this morning - although you wouldn't know as he squawked for all of 30 secs and squeezed out about 2 tears when it happened.

Stink about Tyde Pearl - hope he manages to be a bright wee chappy for the rest of the day

Hope Charli's dr visit went well also

Hi do ho neighbours....

Well as of today there has been no spew, I repeat no spew. Things could of course change at any minute and I have the washing machine and dettol at the ready.
I thought the same thing last night and then Sarh herfed up in her nice clean bed.

Emily is eating a little bit, but often puts it in her mouth and then pulls a face and spits it out like it tastes funny. Sarah is doing the same so it muct be part of the bug.
Both have got their sparkle back today so I am hopeful that we have turned a corner. Neither are by any means better, but hopefully no worse at least.
Plus Emily has finally done a pooey nappy after 10 days of nothing - that must make her feel a bit better anyway.

Had a massive tanty today as I am so sick of sick kids who won't eat. I felt much better afterwards. I'm not sure my hubby did though.

Hope you are all well and happy.

Well charli doesnt need grommets nor anything else at the moment but boy have we had a suck week here. Finally after the 3rd dr visit the idiot believed me my child was sick....or was it the temp of over 39 with pamol every four hours and her finally screaming at him that made him click!!!!Durrr I kinda know more when my kids are sick....can't help that charli smiles the min she was in there the 1st time. Anyway the sux thing is , is that she is now on ab's for throat infection, has terrible cough, high temps and just to ice the cake...cutting teeth.
So we decided to try brufen(which normally we stay clear off) and only needed to use it twice and she seems to be coming right. Well still really wheezy and blocked up and if she doesnt stop wheezing by monday we will pay the nice dr a visit! And mylovely daughter has learnt to share......her friggin bugs so I feeling crap and she was happy today LOL..

Hope things are settle Suomi - sounds like a horrid bug.
Gutz cmum1 hope Charli is feeling better now.

I went shopping the other day (which I don't do nowadays) usually DH does it but as he was away I indulged. Picked up some baby foods and as DD has been so good lately I tried a couple of teaspoons of the pumpkin/sweetcorn and she LOVED it. Latched onto the spoon like she does the bottle and was hmmmmm'ing her way through the spoonfuls. I did get some spills afterwards due to her being in her exersaucer and she's now throwing herself around in that! (I don't normally put her in anything after a feed) but with picking up the teenagers froms school last week was a mess.

Anyway overall it seemed great - burped well etc.
Well did that come back to kick me in the ass!

I've now had 2 days of non wind happening and she's had wicked cramps. Her reflux has flared up also in between feeds.

Oh well - hopefully one day we will get there I'm beginning to wonder if she will ever be able to eat solid foods!!!!!

DD coped well with the to'ing and fro'ing from COllege last week - day sleeps were non existant due to her nodding off in the car. I will say that I'm glad that's over now and now attempting to get some sort of routine back into her day with sleeps.

Hows everyone else doing?

Hi

Well things seem to be settling down here.
Emily is happy as Larry, eating everything in sight and no longer attached to me at all times. This morning she was literally roaming around looking fo things to eat - I couldn't keep up wit her. She still doesn't really want milky food but thats OK as she is eating so much of everything else.
Sarah is still not quite right and still needs persuasion to eat. Oh well, McDonalds did the trick this morning!

Kat - Emily had lots of problems with anythign with sweetcorn in it. I asked the dietition about it and she she no cron until 12 months as their digestive system can't handle it. You've got to wonder why they put it in baby food then? We also had trouble with the S26 AR formula as it was thickened with corn. For the longest time we stuck to baby rice and neocate and plain home cooked veges, and pears.

Hope everyone is well and happy.
But at least I no longer want to run away from home.

So glad things are resuming to normal for you Suomi.
Oh corn woops .... would explain her issues with it!

She loved the baby food and gobbled it down without hesitation so I'm glad she's not gagging it all back up.

Baby rice gives her indigestion and wind issues also the few times I've tried it. Last time I decided to not go there again. Shame as it's a bland food and would be great to have her eating it mixed with her milk.

I'll try plain home cooked veges then see how we go.
Might leave it for another week or 2 though as I've only just got her winding properly again with no cramps.

Pears were great, seemed to leave no nasty lasting effects! The baby ones (watties) I tried some time ago.

Glad you are home to stay Suomi, I know what you mean sometimes the idea of that is great! My home help (relative) went home this morning ... sob sob. Was great with her cooking dinners!

DD went down for half an hour this am, grghhhh. I left her but she was beside herself in the end so up she got. Overall about 55 mins of in bed and a huge burp/spill when up!

Must go and entertain!

Hello everyone :P

Kat~ Your DD sounds so much like leo. Lately ive found if he wakes up and is hysterical and i cant settle him in cot the pram can resettle him, not ideal but ill do what worksd. I am pleased that the corn info was pointed out cause i forgot about that LOl the dietician told us the same but suggested corn thins for a snack LOL I know that you have prob tried Infacol for wind? does it help? I hopet hat DD is more settled this afternoon/evening.

Suomi~Thats great that Emily is eating again & i hope that Sarah follows suit soon.

Gutz~I hope the rain stops soon babe & the water leaves your back yard, either that or you invest in kayaks LOL Im sorry that little miss still isnt well. Hugs babe Hope that you are feeling alot better soon.

fi~Thanks for the suggestions with leo, I hope that you have managed to get more food into Ian. Hugs

Food wise with leo he has a really boring diet. He lives on farex, pear, and organics tinned chicken & the odd meat. He can only swallow purees.. If he has any wheat he screams almost non stop till it out his system. Lucky for us he has a good intake of Neocate. Hopefully when his tests are done we will find out whats happening and whats causing the cramps and digestion issues etc.

Hugs to all those that need it.

Take care and I hope everyones weeks improve.

HI all!
Kat I tried some vegie a while ago and had the same results as you did... then last week I thought I'd try banana as DS1 LOVED it and ate heaps.. Tyde still gags on anything so not ready but even just whatever he swallowed down stuffed him up for another 3-4 days.. so am flagging solids again for a while.. we have our dietitian appt tomorrow so will chat with her, but I think we'll just stick to homemade vegies and try every so often to see when he's 'ready ' to swallow them! at least I've got him into a good routine lately , holding off bottles for 3 and a ahlf to 4 hours and then he'll drink a big bottle happily, and same with keeping him up around 2hrs during the day and then he'll have a long nap... YAY!!
Kells, I read that you are having bowel biopsies for Leo?? hugs girly. My SIL is cealiac that's why they have taken us a wee bit more seriously I think! hopefully Tyde won't have that problem!!!! aarrrgghhh
hugs girlies!

Hey ladies, wow DD went down at 10.30am and is still asleep! She did wake 45 mins later and I left her. Wahoooo!!!
What home made vegies do you cook Pearl???
Angelkels: Infacol has never worked for us! Neither has colimed or gripe water. Cham Rad is my product of choice and it works 9 times out of 10. weleda product says for teething on the bottle. Wind is great today! Now the food has left her system!
The 3 days of twisting/crying/ with no wind result just isn't worth it! I'll give her pears again eventually as I now they work ok.

Just bought another buggy for the house yay! Now I can keep the mountain buggy in the car 24/7 saves me lugging it around.

Overall good here, DD had a great sleep last night and no doubt will be a box of birds when she does finally wake up.

When DH left the house around 1 hour after she went down I was outside collecting the horses feed buckets. He stopped and said she's crying her head off, so I said that's cool she'll live.
When I came in a short time later she was asleep!!!

Pearl my DH's sister is anaphylactic and her DD has multiple allergies. God I hope we don't spiral to that level!

Hugs to you Kells for Leo's biopsies.

Cruising along here - hope Catlin gets into her appt on time - stinky weather.

Ian's messy naps continue and his gluten sensitivity/coeliac screen got pushed back until the 11th of Sept so I am going to go back to GF for a few weeks to see if that can stabilise the nappies and then reintro it a couple of weeks before the screen. Guess I better check with the Dr that that won't mess with the results too much but I really can't let the naps continue with tweaking his diet and that seems the logical tweak - blast it. The porridge was going down quite well but back to the healtheries GF version I guess.

Positively he has coped with his losec reduction (although still refluxing consistently) so will look at tweaking that again shortly cause am fairly happy that if it deterioates I would only have to up it to the level that he is on currently as opposed to the level he was on before the first reduction.

Right am being naughty as am on computer during Ian's up times and that is not fair on him so off I go....

Yeah - kids are eating!!!!

In fact I can't stop the pair of them. Emily has been followig me around all day growling for more food. She had her cereal this morning and had only just got down when she stood at her chair whinging for food. She then proceeded to eat two boxes of raisins and two pieces of toast! This was more than she ate all of last week. All I did today was feed kids, which was a nice change from cleaning up vomit.
I'm sure that the new probiotics that the naturopath put us on have helped. That and an immune boosting tonic.
She's doing so well that I will definately think about reducing her losec in the next while. She missed a couple while sick and seemed OK. I'm a bit nervous, but I'll have to bite the bullet soon.

It is so nice to have healthy kids!
Except now Sarah has for some unknown reason decided to start throwing major wobbly tantrums. This is the placid child who has basically never thrown one in her life. Another interesting challenge to overcome. She had her first visit to public kindy today which was exciting. One step closer to school which scares me. She was very shy and is going to take a while to settle in. Its much larger than her private kindy but so many more experiences to be had. Shes got lots of friends there from coffee group so she will be fine.

Life is good. I'm off to visit a school on Thursday and looking to do some work there. This has cheered me up no end. I really need to get out of the house for one day and be the person I was before I had kids. I miss the buzz of teaching, and feeling valued in my own right. This is a totally new school to me so it will be intersting.

Hope life is treating you all well.

YAY Suomi on healthy 'ier' kids!! shame about the tanty's Reef used to be like that after illness.. Good luck with kindy.. Reef has THRIVED there and now can only talk about 'when' he goes to school! hahaha
Kat, yay on settled girl again... these solids are scary eh! I just will make pureed pumpkin or kumara I think..... when I'm brave enough to try again!
Fi, so sorry about Ian's issues with gluten etc and hope those nappies are under control soon... don't you hate how they 'delay' these visits/tests... frustrating.
Tyde back into a great routine and drinking well... dietitan appointment today.. so will discuss the solids issue!

Hi all,

I'll be off for a few days being spoilt by my mum in the Corromandel. Yah for someone else cooking.

Both kids are awesome again. Emily is eating everything that isn't bolted down. She crawls around growling at me for food - a lovely change. Today she has eaten 6 slices of bread among many other things! Its nice to see her thighs turning from sticks to normal baby legs again.

Have a good rest of the week and weekend.

Seemed logical to me at the time.

When Gem started walking we had just worked out her gluten sensitivity, she was on a suitable dose of Losec and was dairy free so yes it did improve but I don't think it was particularily the walking that did it. Developmental stages can worsen reflux whilst the body adjusts, so crawling, teething, sitting, standing and falling down on the bottom etc may actually aggravate it.
The theory is though that being more upright decreases reflux, and maybe being more mobile provides distraction.

Gaviscon does have a side-effect of constipation for some/most. Have you tried just reducing the amount of Gaviscon per bottle, or maybe even just in one bottle initially. Gaviscon is so helpful for reflux though, that I would recommend getting the constipation treated. Constipation is reasonably common in our children with gastric reflux due to decreased gut motility. Are you using anything to help with constipation?

Thanks for thinking of me when you were having such a rough time. Things are better now in your house I think I read?

I put a bit on my "Taking a break" thread last week because I still haven't had much time to get on here. She had three appointments last week. The third was with her private paediatrician who hadn't seen her for a year. He was a little concerned when he examined her and suggested another MRI so there may be another appointment this week. We aren't too concerned but then we can't ignore him either.

We have managed to improve her headache again after seeing him so that is good news. Next month will be the two year anniversary of her becoming unwell.

It doesn't sound particularily like she needs the probiotics at the moment. They may be useful to replace the good bugs after antibiotics, a gastro bug or if things just deteriorate as Losec can allow the overgrowth of bad bugs. If the spilling doesn't start decreasing or becomes more of an issue, they may be useful as they encourage good gut motility and digestion. Excess wind may also be a sign of the need for good bugs to be replenished.
