Well, it was never completely gone but since Sophie was put on Neocate 4 months ago (when she was 6 months because of gluten, soy and milk problems) the reflux just "disappeared", no more spilling, arching of the back, refusing bottles, whining, grumpiness, she became this little angel that slept, played and enjoyed feeding. She was kept on 20mg of losec a day as advised by the paediatrician just not to upset her and I was told not to change or challenge anything until she is 1.

A month ago when the first tooth broke through she had 3 bad days with diarrhoea, rash and lots of wet burping but once the teeth were through she was back to being ok.

But for the last 3 days she has been so grumpy, the last three nights she cried in her sleep, she burps almost constantly and the worse of all is that she is refusing her bottle, drinks a bit and then just spits it out and refuses to keep drinking, she does it even with the first one in the morning when she hasn't eaten for 12 hours or more! I checked to see if teeth are coming through again but the gums look fine, they aren't swollen or red. Could it be the reflux again? But why if everything was going so good! We moved cities just a month ago and I don't have a paediatrician here and even though we are registered with a GP we haven't been to see him yet.

Sorry about this long post but I'm so scared that the nightmare is coming back, can it be just a phase non-reflux related? what do I do? are there any other symptoms when the reflux comes back? I appreciated any ideas please...

To me it sounds like she has grown out of her losec doseage and you might have to see someone to get it increased. What solids, if any, is Sophie eating now?

Madam chatsalot makes a good point, typically the dose increases when the childs size increases so it could be worth investigating. Fingers crossed it is not the return of the reflux and it is all just teething

Thanks a lot for your answers. Sophie is on solids 3 times a day plus 3 bottles x 200ml. I cook and bake all her food, so she is gluten, diary and soy free and only has eaten egg yolk once (she was ok but I rather wait until she is 1 to try again). When she was younger she couldn't tolerate apples or bananas either, now she eats them sporadically but has had none lately. Today so far she had two of her bottles but it was like going back on time when I had to give her several breaks of 10minutes while drinking to make her finish most of the neocate, the rest I added to her food but it just not right, babies should enjoy drinking their milk in mummy's arm, not fight it!

I'll try the Palms on Monday, thanks for the list of doctors fi1976, we registered with City Doctors and I made an appointment for next week, fingers crossed I can get a doctor to increase the losec, don't you find that doctors don't believe in reflux? is so difficult to convince them sometimes that your child needs the medications! We had a really hard time at the beginning until we found a sympathetic paediatrician that knew about reflux. I hope I find a good paed here too, I feel kind of lost....

I'm sorry Sophie's not feeling so good anymore! It does sound like reflux to me. Hopefully it is just teething or a short "phase". Has she had any new foods recently?

Good luck finding a new doctor and paediatrician.

If you find a Paed you are happy with let me know!! As for increasing dosage I upped it myself using the COSM website and Ian's weight as it was 7 days before I could get into a Dr around the xmas break - when I saw the Dr at the hospital yesterday he said that the dosage was a good dosage (was worried about fessing up though!!)

Also could you ring your old Paed and get them to agree to increase the dosage, while you are trying to find your feet in Palmy?
