Ella was GF for 6 MONTHS (DF for 1 MONTH of that in combination) with no results what so ever which has always baffled me seeing her IgG was 55. Seeing as there were no results the diet was stopped (as instructed by her Paed) and there was no deteriation in her reflux. He did however suggest that after 6months of being off the GF diet we should consider then going back on it as she would be older and it then might make a difference....

This 6months is ticking closer and closer and I am not 100% sure I should be going GF for her again. If there weren't any results 6months ago would everybody else be of the understanding that it wouldn't make any difference now? Thats my thinking, I know it is something I can discuss with her specialist later on by I want the wise reflux mums opinions.

Hi Meg

Sorry I'm no wise reflux Mum, and have only just started Jacob on a GF trial, but just wanted to say, that doesn't make any sense to me at all either. I can totally understand why you are hesitant at putting Ella on a GF trial again.
I hope one of the wise reflux Mums here can help you!!

Well we are a few weeks into our GF diet. Elise's reading was 68. And things are very settled for her at the mo (reaching for some wood!)
But it is a combination of things for us...
We are dairy free, gluten free, and salycylate free, and on 25mg of losec. We have a happy child who is sleeping very well for the first time in her life

Hard to know. Is her reflux under control currently and are there any other symptoms? It would be useful to repeat the bloods before trialling gluten free again. I would suggest you discuss it frankly with the paediatrician and follow their advice.
Gem's experience is this: IgG gliaden of about 30 and definite reaction to gluten (mostly diarrhoea) so was gluten free from the age of one to two years. Gluten reintroduced with no increase in symptoms. Reflux deteriorated so trialled gluten free for three weeks with no improvement so gave up. By age four years reflux was totally out of control and she had been off medications for six months so had repeat bloods and gastroscopy before restarting medications. IgG gliaden still raised and we were desperate so she went gluten free and back onto Losec. Reflux took some time to improve and she definitely relapsed when she had gluten.
I think the thing to recognise with gluten sensitivity is that for some people the symptoms may creep up. Sorry I know there were no real answers here for you.
