If it's for your back, then you might want to get one made to measure. There are many sites selling them, look for a NZ one that does them to order. Local preferably so that they can measure you. There are corsets, with steel boning, and there are 'corsets' that you can buy cheaply with plastic boning, that wont support you and will bend, but can be more comfortable. I know of a few corsetiere's and have many friends that wear them for fashion, but I don't know a lot about wearing them for back support. http://www.corsets.co.nz/archive/return_of_the_corsetIf it's not a safety issue... then there are plenty of shops online that sell them much cheaper, and plenty in New Zealand. http://www.corseterie.co.nz/exclusive-steel-boned-striped-waspie-newhttp://www.sinister.co.nz/shop/corsets.htmlMore info about what you need might help the search too, because there is no point in suggesting tassels and feathers, if you are looking for long day wear and comfort

Nah I'm only about 5ft4" An underbust corset is more comfortable for day-to-day and sitting than an overbust is though.

Yeah the reason I said to get the waist training one is because the steel is stronger and it has more bones = more support. The fashion corsets are usually plastic boning, some have steel bones but 12 instead of the 24 that the waist training ones have. There is someone on youtube I think who wears corsets instead of a back brace for her spine issues so they are fairly strong!

Okay, you are killing me, ladies. Why are 21st century women wearing corsets?? I am intrigued!! http://www.corsets-au.com/waist-training...ade-wt-164.html"This corset can be used to train the waist to bring the waist 6-7" smaller, this is the process of permanently altering your figure, before you do this we strongly advise that you seek medical advice, although we retail these garments we are not experts in this field. Waist training has benefits such as better posture & reduction of stomach size but it can also reduce lung capacity." Dear god...my breathing physio would have a conniption! There was a reason women back in the day used to carry smelling salts....

Okay, you are killing me, ladies. Why are 21st century women wearing corsets?? I am intrigued!! Well, I personally just love the look of the corset itself. I could do with a bit of waist training, but thats not why I buy the corsets.

I was asking about this GA, because like Tulips my stomach muscles have split from pregnancy. And when you don't have a strong core, it's horrible on your back. I don't know if it would help the muscles knit back together, but would certainly help support your back. I guess you would avoid tightening up too much to stop the lung restriction thingy.

One more question Tulips, once you have the laces done to your liking, can you leave them done up, and get in and out of it yourself with the hooks at the front?

Yeah you will need to loosen the laces, otherwise the hooks will be VERY difficult. Look on YouTube for lacing vids, it's actually quite interesting to watch

GA, not intending to use it for waist training, just to hold muscles together, my waist is fine my muscles are shite! I'm intending to use it to hold my waist at about it's normal size but hold the split muscles together. Oh ok, how interesting! The reason I was asking is because 4 babies have been hell on my tummy muscles too, and I feel effects of it not so much in my back, but related to my breathing...a lack of support pretty much sums it up. A corset looks like a reasonably inexpensive way to deal with it in the short term, but the paradoxical thing is that my problems are with hyperventilation, so I'd have to be careful not to exacerbate that.
