Ok so my youngest has made it to his 5th birthday without my ever buying, cooking or serving Cheerios. Even though the very idea of them makes me want to barf, I have told DS2 he can have them at his 5th bday party on Saturday. So questions ..,.

Are all Cheerios created equal or are some less gross than others?

How many (kgs) Cheerios do I need for 15 kids?

Are they supposed to eat the skin and what on earth is it anyway?

Oh man I am not going to read this as somehow DS has picked up a love of hot-dogs-on-a-stick and it makes me want to cry every time he begs for one and I give in.

OMG Ceerios are my fave thing in the world!!!! They are sausages in red skin is all, no idea what the red is. But yes, you eat them - dipped in copious amounts of tomato sauce

First thing I got when I came home from the UK

I think I had roughly tht many kids and loads of adults that stole them at Lily's party, and had about 1-2 kg, can't remember exactly how many,. 1kg for the kids alone, buyut more like 2 if you were having loads of adults there too, espcially men (I make cheerios for the kids when we have people over and there are always a few of the blokes who I add extra to the pot for).

Easiest way to cook them without them splitting - cover with water, bring to the bioil, then turn element off - if it is one that retains the heat for ages, remove from element, you really only want to heat them through.

I tend to put them in bowl and cover with boiled water, then cover the bowl until I am ready to serve.

Obviously the use of the word sausage is a loose one I imagne it is the crap meat. And I have never tasted any difference between Paknsave/countdown or New world cheerios So I don't think that matters.

They go fast. If you have lots of other food though I wouldn't worry overly much and prob would just cook up maybe a kg? First in, first served and all that.

Yes you eat the red casing. All brands seem to taste the same, I think the deli counter ones are the same brand as the pre-packaged ones but they'd be buying bulk so more cost effective for the supermarket (they don't seem to pass on the saving).

Yeah get heaps as the adults will probably eat them too If there are any there besides you though by the sound of it ha. My girls peel off the skin, they hate it

Not always, i ones bought the deli ones and they were FOUL FOUL FOUL i dunno why though.
I think Hellers so a 1kg bag, and i've done that for 6 kids and they've gone. Greedy buggers though. I would Get 2 kgs at least for 15 kids. TBH personally i;d get 3kgs and Consider freezing the last kg if it didn't look like we needed it.
Generally i cook 1/2 then see if i think we "need" the second 1/2

I'd get 2 kg. adults secretly like them too... Cut a deep cross at one end of each sausage and it will peel back upon cooking into a funky shape.

I'd go for more rather than less I think.

I now prefer them warm, btu i remember eating them cold, just helping myself to one in the fridge.
I esp loved getting one at the supermarket or butcher Nomnomnom.
Apparently butchers had to stop giving them out because "someone got sick eating a raw cherrio" which i thought was just bollocks!

There's something about cheerios that just attracts kids, I'd be working on at least 3 cheerios per person (kids and adults).

No matter how many you get - they will all be gone. Adults love them just as much (sometimes more) than kids!

Also, Buy extra Tomato Sauce. You'll go through HEEEAAAAPPPPPPSSS

Yeah HC - my DH would always call them 'little boys' in NZ and it used to really wind me up and now that I'm living in OZ I have to call them that too!!

I love them (although the ones here aren't nearly as nice) and would definately buy 3kgs for 15 kids. Believe me - there won't be ANY left
