Heard this morning that Lady Gaga's concert is June 7th in Auckland. My six-year old daughter loves Lady Gaga and her songs, in a totally innocent way!

Has anyone ever taken their child to a concert similar to what Lady Gaga's would be? Will check out the layout of the venue to see if there is somewhere where we can sit where we're a part of it, but not in the thick of the crowds.

I remember a thread a while back and people were taking their children to someone like Katy Perry or Pink or someone like that.

Would imagine the stage sets and the costumes would be awesome!

Of course the cost of the tickets hasn't been announced yet so hoping they're not too exhorbitant.

I know there'll be some that say no way, but interested in those that perhaps have taken kids to a concert and how it went, perhaps some tips?

I dont know that I would take children to lady Gaga and Im a person that does let my children do/see quite a bit - just that she's so unpredictable who know what she will wear (could be something totally unsuitable) or what she will say - I've seen her really mouthing off in a few interviews so isn't high up on my 'person for children to look up to' list. katy perry/taylor swift are much much cleaner/safer options for taking children to.

just my two cents anyway

I'm going to take my DD who is 11 - she has been to Paramore and Katy Perry, plus we're going to Jessie J this month and Taylor Swift next month.

We usually get seats as close as possible - you don't need to worry about partying in the stand as most of the pushing and shoving happens at the front of the standing area.

I was concerned about swearing and inappropriate behaviour but I think artists like that are fully aware that the concert-goers are possibly young and I haven't encountered any problems - maybe just some innuendo from Katy Perry which goes right over their heads wink

I say go for it - if its not too expensive. I imagine they might announce another date when the first one sells out, like they did with Taylor Swift.

Personally no, I would not take a 6 year old to Lady Gaga.

Do they rate concerts? like they do CD's? if the concert has an age restriction then no, but if it doesn't then it should be fine.

I would say the music vids would be way more racy than a concert.

I agree 6 is way to young for a Lady Gaga concert.

It's probably on pretty late, a work colleague took her two daughters who were about 8 & 10 last time she came and she said the 8 year old was so tired and missed the end.

I wouldn't, have heard from others who've seen her live and it wouldn't be appropriate for a child. But who knows what this concert would be like. I also don't want to expose her tender ear drums to such loud music at a young age. That's my reasoning. smile

I know during previous concerts, that she's done songs in a tub full of blood and from what I gather, she'd probably be as sexually graphic, if not more so then someone like Madonna, so no I would definitely not take my 6 year old to one of her concerts.

She might be on the same radio stations, but she is definitely not the same as artists like Katy Perry or Paramore. Her entire goal is to shock. So while someone else might decide to take a younger child, probably wont be 6 year old friendly.

If in doubt of what I mean, watch her dancing in her video for Alejandro.

Watched a couple different live videos for the same song, during different tours, and one seemed pretty tame other then skimpy clothes and a lot of smeared blood and two male dancers having a massive pash at the end of the song, and in the other she was dressed a little more...but writhed around with two guys in a threesome while singing with a smoke hanging out of her mouth and then had a male dancing rub his face in her crotch for a while.

Mmm - I get what everyone is saying - thanks.

Probably in the same camp too, but was sort of wondering if some of her actions etc might be way over my daughter's head, so wouldn't 'affect' (if that's the right word), too much - it is definitely more the music and I guess the atmosphere.

She's not keen on a lot of loud noise and she always takes her ear muffs to firework displays so I could imagine her there with her ear muffs on!

Decision not completely made!

Thanks.

I'm in the no camp too. It's just not really something I would want my young kids to see no matter how much they liked the music. Also aren't the main acts on quite late? It might be 9 or 9:30pm before she's even on stage. I'm a cheapskate too and just couldn't justify the $$$ at that age.

Oh you'd definitely still be ableto hear it with ear muffs Maquis, but I'm with you on saving money on it. No six year old is a big enough fan to need to go to a concert.

And my 6 year old would definitely get what's going on in those concert videos. Not enough to understand the full concept of it, but heck, what on earth is a 6 year old going to think of seeing a man rub his face in a woman's crutch? Or a woman covered in blood?
