In some ways I think it's worse when they see things like that and don't understand it, because they can create something bigger and scarier in their minds about it. Science backs you up there Pudding. Monkey see, monkey do too. I had a friend who was abused by her cousin who inadvertently managed to view some p#rn as a child, he needed a lot of rehabilitation to relearn what was "right". Lady Gaga has p*rnographic content at her concerts, just because a kid doesn't understand innuendo doesn't mean they aren't learning from it.

My 7.5 year old wouldn't understand it, or know what was going on, but she'd definitely get a weird vibe from it and feel embarrassed/icky/scared. In some ways I think it's worse when they see things like that and don't understand it, because they can create something bigger and scarier in their minds about it. Yes this. I wouldn't take my 7 year old to it. The themes are just way to adult visually. I don't mind so much her hearing *some* of lady Gaga on the radio in the car for example but no way to it on TV or stage.

I don't think I'd allow my 9yr old to see her either, when she thinks of Gaga, she relates it back to Glee.
She would much rather see Jessie J or Taylor Swift. If she had her way she'd be going to Evanescence as well.

Oooo, I got my Evanescence ticket today Mel. Are you going? I would really like to go but I want to go to Seether as well. Not enough $$ to go to both, so have to choose. Wish they were still a couple, then they could have toured together!

To be honest, I find it astounding you would even consider taking her along! I avoid letting my kids hear music like that let alone viewing videos etc.
Let kids be kids, keep them innocent for as long as possible. I totally agree. I turn off/turn away/remove DS from any hint of sexualised music/videos/TV/songs behaviour in general. Gross. I don't even play the radio as as for stuff like Juice - TURN IT OFF! There is no way I would even DREAM of it. As for the raunchy stuff going over your head - you are kidding, right?? Kids see and soak up EVERYTHING. You might think it's not being noticed, but it is, and it forms part of their picture of 'normality'.

Agreed - DS is already doing pretty out there dance moves..partly from watching vids that i have not managed to avoid, and partly from the girl next door who is pretty provocative in her moves and i put that to what they/she sees...it is hard to avoid i know.....i am definately more aware of what videos are out there - i made the fatal mistake of zoning in to Sexy and I know it with him around....now we have the iconic hip wiggles - it is funny i must admit and gladly i dont think he understand the sexual connotations..i dont think lol

I'm in the heck no camp. When they are old enough to pay for concert tickets themselves, they can go. I think I was 16 when I went to see EMF at the Town Hall. totally agree. why does a 6yr old need to go to a concert at all? I took my DS to womad bcos he was free with an adult...and thats as raunch as its going to get for him hehe I went to michael jackson when I was 15 - had to save up for ages to go to it though.

I went to Cliff Richard when I was 11 But that was with my Born again christian neighbours. And I think it was more of a godly concert than a performance. That said, I was 13 when I went to Bowie (paid for everything myself), and went to at least one concert a year from then, then at 16 went regularly.
