I know there are many women around these parts whom have walked this path before. What happens after a malformation is detected during the 20 week anatomy scan? I am thus far being referred to fetal medicine at Waikato hospy, what should I be expecting there?

grouphug Mrs Tuffit, I did not want to read and run on you. I have not been in this situation myself but have had close friends that have. (I have had problems with my placenta with both of my term pregnancies which required extra monitoring and there was great indecision on what was the problem with my placenta in my last pregnancy). Some of my friends have had false alarms with the anatomical scans as the scans are not always correct and you may find that one you are scanned at the hospital things might be a little different. Depending on the abnormality found some have just had very close monitoring and plans are made to allow for a safe delivery. These scans can bring both benefit and apprehensiveness to the pregnancy. But they also mean that you have time to both emotionally and physically prepair for all outcomes, gather information, and make informed decisions on treatment that you as a family feel best for your little one(s).
Hugs to you I know that this sounds very hard "but try to relax and not worry toooo much" until you have all the information from both the scans and specialists. grouphug

grouphug miss tuffit, I agree with VL about scans not always being correct.

I had something similar about being called back in to do another scan, we had a specialist scanner scan me for the second scan, they scanned the heart (area of concern).
After they found out what the problem was(nothing to do with the heart after all) we had a chat to the drs about what would happen when the baby was born, I had scans every 1 1/2 - 2 wks to check on the baby and I was induced early 3-4wks.

Sorry dont know too much about your particular case but thats what we went through.
luck for your comming weeks

MT, is there anything we can do to support you through this emotional time? I am very aware that you will be dealing with a lot no matter what the outcome, I want to know if we can help in anyway, if there is anything you will need for the babies, for you, for your boys. I hope you can ask for help if you need anything.

Oh MT, I'm SO sorry to read this!

With our DD we lost, we found out at our 20 week scan that there was something really wrong...the scan lady made it pretty clear and said she was really sorry, we had an OB appt the same day and she said to talk to them in more detail.

We saw the fetal medicine team at the hospital, they were fantastic...we had a scan at the hospital by the fetal medicine team...they were able to tell us right there what was up and then into the fetal team to discuss what on earth to do...

fingers crossed it's not something too serious!!

I also 2nd Felicis, if there is anything we can do...

Take care Miss Tuffit and best of luck for your appt tomorrow, your anxiety is totally understandable - hopefully seeing the specialist can help allay (sp??) some of that anxiety.
Sending lots of positive thoughts your way grouphug
