Hi Trudes, I guess when we look back it didn't really take that long.

Our first donor was matched through FA in around three months, but this cycle never got underway. As our donor became pregnant before it started out.

We found out second donor through the nz surrogacy website, this cycle was also cancelled, just before egg collection.

Our third donor, third time lucky, was through FA within about 9 months of the first donor. Our donor is early 30's.

So things have happenned for us really quickly. I think we just matched what the donor requirements were. We are extremely grateful for the opportunities we have been given.

My friends HCG with two blasts were around 250, so who knows. If it does turn out to be twins, we will feel doubly blessed!!!

Siobhan x

hi to all of you lovely ladies
sorry i have been a bit slack with keeping in touch - Cape Town is awesome and we're having a ball.
Nattiej, when we get back i'll pm you some tourist tips & gems of info. (can do public post if anyone else interested?)

Cycle -wise the clinic has been amasing - no stress & everything went without a hitch.
Our donor gave us 8 eggs, 1 immature. Day 3 - 3 looking good, 2 looking great. Transferred @ day 5 - the 2 great looking ones. The other 3 weren't viable.

So, now we wait... BT 1 on 15th, if BFP ( fingerscrossed ) 2nd BT 20th.

Good luck to everyone waiting for good news - i'll do a thorough read back when i get home next week.

Hello lovely ladies - i've been reading along but haven't commented as didnt think there was anything more to say that hadn't already been said smile

But just wanted to come on and say i'm crossing my fingers for you Ngladys. x

Oh and .. awesome news Siobhan.. congrats to you!!! You can't argue with that hcg level!

Trudes, I'm so pleased your hubby and you have a strong partnership, this stuff really shows you what you're made of so its fab to see its bringing out the best of both of you. It says a lot about your character I reakon...

Scrambled eggs - i'd be keen to hear about your CT experiences so if you're comfortable doing a public post please do. smile I have been in contact with Nurture in SA and also CFC as I was contemplating that as an option too.

JustinReach - how are you feeling? Morning sickness?

Hi also to Shellbell, Bublove, NattieJ and the rest of you out there smile

Before i go.. I have a question for those of you who have done an FET with SD (so just Ngladys?)... when you get your positive pregnancy result (because you will, I hope)do you still fall under FA for the first few weeks of pregnancy care? I guess i'm just wondering about that ever controversial $4800 that FAA charge for their partnership with SD for the fresh cycles and I know that fee includes pregnancy care for the first 8 weeks, so do they also charge a fee for FET monitoring and early preg care? Or will you just choose to go straight via a private OB or public midwife? Just curious how it works.

I had a chat to Jenna today from SD. I can now see what you ladies have been saying all along. She is really quite amazing. It's very hard to find anything wrong with that place! (believe me I have been trying!) I have a lot to think about and a lot of money to find (!) but at least it feels productive to be investigating options. And don't even get me started on how fabulous their donor database is... oh my gosh... amazing!

SS88 - to answer your question, faw charged me $1000 for a TER and that includes early pregnancy monitoring till I go to a specialist. I think it's just one scan and 2 pregnancy tests - will confirm that tomorrow though. SD charged me $2600 for the TER.

San Diego are fantastic and I wouldn't have Sophie if it wasn't for them. In fact bublove and I were talking about this last night - there are a number of girls in NZ who are very thankful that SD is a reality for some of us. We just need to get the word out there more because there are a lot of people who still don't know about the service.

If we fail this time, it isn't because of the beautiful blasts that we replaced, it's because of my old and broken body!!

hi,

i am just looking into all this egg donor stuff, and it is a bit overwhelming trying to take it all in.
do you need to have a referral from your fertility specialist in nz to be able to go to the overseas clinics, and what is this fee you have to pay them. can you not get your medical infomation faxed, scanned to the overseas clinics.
also why do so many people use san diego?
has anyone used other clinics.
i have been emailing quite a few to find out further information, but could be getting more confused:)

hope everyone is well, and receives the news they are waiting for.

hi All

Scrambled eggs great to hear from you and oooohhhh I will have everything corssed ofr you (and Tania) on Feb 15 as I have with Ngladys. I hope it is a tripple BFP here this month!!!

SS San Dioge is a great clinic alright!!

Siobhan - when's your next HCG test?

Chaja We did lots of research and spent months ringing around clninccs in the U.S. and the SD success rates are pehnomially good with donor egg. They have an 'in house' donor system (many clinics in the U.S you have to pay big money to use an external donor agency but the stadards I don;t think of donors is as high).SD haeing an in house donor sytem cna control the quality (ie fertility) of donors. At the end of the day you want to be assurred of useing donors have good fertility. Also some parts of the U.S give yo uvery little information on your donor.
SD really do through testing on their donors and they use theur dnors up to 10 times so you can know their success rates.. Our list on here has all the successful pregnanacies from SD and as yu can see last year alsmots every single person. who went to SD is preganant!!(and I am sure tanina and Ginag will be very soon) SD is where most of us have gone overseas but Capetwon seems to be popular now too.

Trudes - lovely to hear about your DH. Will you be home for Valentines day?

Well my little ones are 'calling' me so better go.

Hi SS88,

I did a FET cycle through at SD last year which resulted in my gorgous Twins.

Although I went "through" FAA, I organised and paid for my scans privately prior to departure myself. When I got my BFP I had my first blood test after I POAS and then 1 other to confirm my levels were rising. Then a scan at 7.5 weeks to check viability. The scans were all private with the results being faxed to SD by FAA.
SD told me to only do 2 bloodtests and then wait for the scan as they think that weekly bloodtests add to your stress levels.

I went to my GP after my second bloodtest and he referred me directly to the High Risk Clinic at our hospital.High Risk because of my age, Donor Pregnancy and Twins. This meant I had an Obstetrican and midwives from the hospital.

Hi Everyone else, Trudes,NGladys,Bublove. wave
Congratulations Siobhan and Justin Reach. congratulations
Good luck Scrambled Eggs and NattieJ luck
