I have been reading that often mothers of multis can't tell that they are in labour as the stretching of the uterus deminishes the pain? What has been your experiences? Also, how long were your labours?

I am a little nervous about this as DS2 had a somewhat low pain labour. It wasn't bas enough, so I just though it was BH. And it was only 2 hours, with the midwife missing the birth, so I am worrying that I just won't realise and will give birth all alone, or on the side of the road trying to get to hospy.

Hi there,

Sorry - can't help as I didn't end up going into labour (emergency c-section)

Being preggie with twins - you should find that you're monitored quite closely and carefully by your LMC and/or your obstetrician (bloods, urine etc etc).

So hopefully, you won't give birth on the side of the road! Having things planned as much as poss for the birth side of things can help when it does happen though. ie - who will look after your sons (emergency numbers for people/neighbours/family - hopefully close!), bag packed closer to the time etc etc.

Hopefully others who have been through labour can give you further info!

All the best!

Well, like all labours with singletons, all twin labours are different too. But having two in there, one was posterior... and my gosh I knew I was in labour - a backache labour is horribly uncomfortable. Quite different from BH which I had very strongly with the twins. Share your concerns with your LMC. If you have fast labours, I'm sure you LMC will be monitoring you very closely near the end.

I'm doing ante natal classes ATM (for twins) and the midwife said to look out for all the common symptoms, fluid leakage, bleeding, period like cramps, and to make our way to hospital when the contractions are every ten minutes.

I worry a little that I will have back lain that I think is back pain, and it's actually labour.
