Well we have hit a bit of a rough patch healthwise lately so first off I'd like to apologise for all the health posts I've been making recently....

anyhoo, I'm going to try and put this in a way that won't get unwanteds coming here, so will include deliberate spelling mistakes

Couple of nights ago Miss-nearly-2 appeared to be a bit itchy down below. I figured some sort of fungal thing and used a cream that had been prescribed to her last year. Now yesterday I changed her nappies and found that one of her external laabia is swollen to roughly twice the size of the other and is very red (so this is the outer bits). Took her off to the doc who said to continue with the cream but thought it was more likely to be a knock? Now of course this has happened coming up to a long weekend and it is looking just slightly worse than yesterday... any ideas of what this could be? And when would you take her back to the docs if she was your littlie?

I would take her back, anything requiring cream tends to be external but this sounds internal.

Our little DD just before she was 1 had a carbuncle, which is a boil which goes along underneath the skin. She needed surgery to have it cleaned out, it was 5cm long and when you are just a bubby that is very big.

I would get it checked again for sure.

Thanks MC - where was your DD's carbuncle? And was it pretty obvious from the outside that that is what it was?

It was more towards her groin and no, not obvious at all, they though it was a hernia and then thought it was a herniated ovary. The scan people were not at Starship at the time (late at night) and so they just did the surgery incase, they didn't want to leave it until the morning. Pleased they did it then, it was just before Xmas and she would have had to wait for surgery as it ended up being a 'non urgent' surgery issue.
