Great to hear it all went really well smile

DD had a better day today, she made some friends and spent her lunchtime with 4 girls. She loves her teacher so far. She was the only one to know that the tricky letter in 'climbing' is a 'b' and her teacher praised her for it and got her to write it on the board. Just that little thing has made the biggest difference and she's keen to go tomorrow. Her teacher last year wasn't very encouraging so DD is really happy to have a more open teacher this year.

She'll just need one good friend and then she'll be fine I think.

Not sure hun, haven't met the other kids or Mum's yet, they seem to drop and run quite quick. There are 2 other girls by the looks of it, does she have light brown shoulder length curly-ish hair? I 'think' one of them is McKayla but not sure. What does her Mum look like?

Today DD had a melt down and didn't want to go. I dragged her in with red puffy eyes. She was so excited yesterday but her shoes had made a wee sore on her ankle and she refused to wear a band aid to make it stop rubbing. Then she cried and got sunscreen in her eyes. sigh Her teacher was really good though and she seemed fine when I left. Not helped by the fact she refused to sleep til 9.45pm last night due to the heat and all the day's stimulation.

Yes she does, and her mum has shoulder length blonde curlyish hair and would have had a baby with her too.

Poor wee poppet, hope she has an ok day today, it was very hot last night, we didn't get Jorja to sleep until about that time either.

Loved the pic of your DD Astro, shes gorgeous! Teehee to the reading book rofl Aww at your drop-off this am. Mine totally surprised me and was all clingy and had a few tears too frown So not like her, she seems to have lost all her confidence lately. I took her in to assembly and stayed for 5mins and she seemed happy after that so I left and she called out 'bye mummy'. Hope yours has a good day and is happier tomorrow.

Loved reading your happy story about your DDs day Pudding love2 Hoping mine has one of those to tell tonight...

Awww Astro sorry to hear she didn't have a good start to the morning frown I know its hard but try not to worry, Gee was fine for a few days as well and then she had a few tearful mornings but her teacher assured me she was fine as soon as I left and I think it was a combination of tiredness and changes to her routine (Gee not great with change!) but once she got into the swing of it she settled down and was happy to go so am sure your dd will be the same grouphug
Hope you are ok and not worrying too much and have lots on today to keep you occupied - before you know it she will have some little friends and will be waving for you to go again!

blowkiss

Glad to hear that most kids are enjoying the new challenges of school!
We were running early this morning, until I'd strapped all the kids in and then discovered the car battery was flat. Grrr, DS playing with the lights! Had to ring my dad to come and jump start us. Ended up getting to school with 1 minute to spare - NOT a good thing for my sensitive, hard to get used to new things boy! The teacher had to drag him off me, while he cried hysterically.

Oh well, onwards and upwards!

Oh no starryeyed!! That kind of thing is a nightmare. I so relate, my DD wouldn't cope with the idea of being late either. Tomorrow will be a better day.

For NE it's really normal for them to be fine for a few days then have a real meltdown a couple of weeks in so be prepared for that to possibly happen. I think the novelty wears off a bit and they get really tired too.

I managed to drop DD off and leave before the bell this morning (was pouring) and she was Ok. I saw her chatting to some girls as I left. 7 is a hard age to change schools I reckon. Girls can be quite fickle and mean at that age and their friendships are intense. She got to go to the science room yesterday and see some funnel web spiders in a jar and look in a microscope. She loved that, she never would have been able to do something like that last year.

Oh no, starry! That sux! I hate mad panics and so does DD!

Pudding, that's the age I changed schools and I found it hard for those reasons too. I was a bit quiet and geeky too which made me a target. It just takes one nice girl thought to get you through.

Poppit, hopefully that will all change for her soon and her confidence will be back! Does she know other girls in her class?

I have been so busy I can barely fit everything in to the day. Having had her home all hol's I am now catching up on some stuff and getting stuff done during school that I usually had to leave til she'd gone to bed. I do still think about her all-day-long though! whistling

Well, I picked him up at 2pm (early finish for newbies at our school). He was very quiet, held my hand tightly, but opened up slowly over the last hour. He has read his book to me twice and seems keen to go back tomorrow. All good I reckon!

Also enjoyed the morning tea with the other mums. We ended up with five of us which was nice!

reat to hear things seemed to go well Starry.

Sad to hear about the teary start, astro, but yeah, really normal. Not that that makes itany easier of course! Hopfuly pick up went well!

Pudding - gosh, you have to feel good about the opportuinities and experiences DD has had in two days compared to the ol school, eh, hopefully the girls are nice!

Naw at your DS with being there at the last minute Starry, that definitely sucks, being last! Nice that you met some other mums.

Apart from the teary start DD1 seemed to really enjoy her first day. Was full of stories about what she did etc. She's got a sore throat tonight, hope she's not getting sick.

Yes Astro, one of our best friends outside of school is in the same class as DD. Shes been at school since August. Funny as they play really well together outside of school (we were away with them at the weekend) but DD hasn't mentioned her at school at all. Girls rolleyes

giggle at not having enough hours in your day

How did this morning go for everyone?

DD saw her two best friends from her last school walking together to school this morning (we drove past and stopped to say Hi). I thought that would make her a bit wobbly but she was fine. Managed a drop off this morning with no clinging and no tears. Today I have no children at home which feel really really odd.
