Hi Everyone
Sorry TMI post, as you may have all read I haven't had ANY bleeding since my D&C 9 weeks ago but yesterday and today I have had some dark brown discharge and I am hoping like stink that this is my AF returning to normal !. My chest is sore and I have crampy pains so I am assuming it's what it is. My hcg levels yesterday were at 23 (29 eight days before) so they have made a very small drop. My question is once AF arrives properly does that indicate that I am back at 0 ? does this also mean that I would ovulate as I normally would and be able to count AF as day 1 of my new cycle even if my levels werent at 0 ? Im confused !!! any help would be very much appreciated

or it may mean that something thats been stuck is coming away MrsKD, dark brown discharge sounds like Old something or rather....
I don't know what your HCG levels would be to get AF, but I do know they need to be under 5 to ovulate and I think you ovulate BEFORE AF, which makes me think more that this is something coming away..

I'd have to a gree with Shipmate. This is what happened to me. You might get a bit of cramping and it will pass. I got a fright when it happened and rang the hospital. They just told me that as long as the pain wasnt severe and the bleeding not heavy (1 pad in an hour) and there was no smell, it was fine. They also told me to keep anything that came through and I took it to my Gp the following day.
I passed a few things and then it was finally over. This could be a good thing MrsKD, an end to the physical side of it anyway.

Right so, I ended up in the Womans assessment unit at Auckland hospital on Friday evening as the dark brown discharge got a bit "offensive" smelling (as the hospital would say) sorry I know thats gross and I was in a lot of pain (similar to the start of labour). Off I went and they took more bloods, did swabs and a HIDEOUS internal on me. I waited around for a few hours and my swabs and bloods came back that I didn't have an infection which is good and my hcg was at 17 ! so it dropped from 29 the day before to 17 the same amount of drop I had a whole 8 days before I got in one day! I was excited about that but the gyno said the numbers don't matter and the fact that i'm still not below 5 at this stage is concerning.
However because I wasn't sceptic and no sign of infection they wont scan me until Tuesday morning (stupid long weekend) ! He seems to think that I do have retained products and seemed very confused as to why both my GP and my Surgeon have repeatedly denied me a scan ! So yet AGAIN I am having to wait and yet AGAIN I have no answers ! I am so truly frustrated and the pain is getting really unbearable ! I am having to dose my self on nurofen to even get out of bed and be able to move ! The problem is the discharge isn't heavy at all and there hasn't been any fresh blood so I don't think it is AF and its not heavy enough for them to move their butts into gear any quicker regarding a scan !

Oh and shipmate I really did want to get a scan done without a referral like you suggested in the other post but my health insurance wont cover me without one and I can't really afford the $290 they want for a private scan

MrskD with that pain your in you can get an urgent scan, you don't need to be in a lot of pain, im so sorry and so angry that youve had all this and we all can see what was going on. I hope you complain when your OK enough, your treatment has been awful... Im so so sorry for you. Big hugs that its nearly finished, and yah for the numbers dropping, another good indication that something is moving. (not yet moved though)

That's what I thought too shipmate with the pain but my gyno at the hospital said and I quote "you have to be on deaths door to get an urgent scan on a Friday evening on a long weekend"....... so earliest I can get is Tuesday morning unless I have a temp or very heavy bleeding !

Far out you would think we live in ancient times, but then I remember when I was miscarrying Faith it was the Christmas holiday period and no one in Ultrasound was there and they couldn't get a scan for me, in the end the OBGYN got a portable scanner from the birthing unit down to ED and scanned me herself, so it can be done I guess you just have to have someone willing to think outside the square. Ive worked with specialists for 15 years so they don't intimidate me and I stand my ground when it comes to people looking after me in a way that I expect. I also discharge myself out of hospital against medical advice if I think they are being too OTT, can win with me haha. Hang in their sweetie, tomorrow is much closer now its today xxxx I so hope this is the last push for you to be treated, and I hope that because of the delays in getting this sorted there is no long term effects on your fertility, I would be pushing hard for them to investigate that since they have left it so long, I know its hard to be forecful when your looking down the barrel of a specialist and you think they are busy and important, but your just as important (make that your mantra) and demand that your care is taken extra seriously because of the delays in getting this sorted, you are very important and your future children are too. (I shake my head)

I can't believe this is still dragging on for you, MrsKD, and also that you've been treated so badly. I am surprised as the doctor that I saw at the hospital when I miscarried scanned me with a portable scanner - I don't see why they can't do the same for you? Anyway, Tuesday morning isn't far away now. I really hope the physical side ends soon and you can begin to move on.
Huge hugs!

They made it sound like there was NO option and I had no choice but to wait until Tuesday, I said very clearly that I had been enduring this for 10 weeks and that I wanted a scan and he said that the unit was closed and I would have to be admitted to the emergency ward in order to get one and they couldn't do that because my blood and swab results came back fine !!! GRRR I will say something tomorrow I think when I see another doctor !

Thanks everyone, I spent yesterday in the hospital waiting for a scan, which I finally got and there was nothing to be seen, uterus was totally clear ! The doctors think that there may have been something in there that has since come out with the bleeding seeing as my hcg plummeted quite a lot in 24 hours ( I found this a bit odd though as I didnt have normal bleeding it was old blood and would have thought that I would have needed to have a proper bleed in order for it to be expelled). However today my hcg results have back as 12 ! they were 17 on Friday and had dropped from 23 the day before so I was really hoping to be back to 0 by now My surgeon is meant to be talking to the oncologist today so i'll see what he says but really I don't think thats what it is, I think im just one of these woman where it takes a long time for no reason. Its extremely frustratiig !

Hugs (hugs) that you STILL don't have any answers. Nothing worse than the wait and see approach
