So im trying to think of a way I can better control my blood sugars through my pregnancy and its hard considering alot of the tips people give for ms etc is to suck on a lolly or eat something! Its kinda doing my head in rolleyes

Im going ok, but at the moment I feel its a very hit and miss type situation when I eat because Im never sure how my basal is going to react.. Im managing to keep between 5-12, with most 12's being at around 9:30 in the form of a morning spike.

I want to lower my carb intake without it being detrimental to my growing babys' health. Can anyone give me some tips on low carb eating? Any website you can point me to?

Really low carb isn't recommended as the foetus need available at whim nutrients and low carb slows things up while our bodies process protein and fats into carbs to use.

But try going low GI, as in uber wholegrain and snacking on cheese rather than a lolly.

When I was pregnant last year I found that sugar free mints worked (I had lots of marketing sweets left over at work - the tiny ones in a tin that you get free at conferences!). Beware though....they also act as a laxative if you have too many!

You could also take some extra units of insulin to cover a ginger nut biscuit! You never know, a biscuit in the tummy may just settle it a little bit.
