Hi all so im just wanting to get an idea of what is normal and what isn't and create a poll that will benefit others who are searching for exactly what I have been, I know everyone is different but a bit of insight would be good ! I have put in two polls as I know that d&c and natural miscarriage rates can be different
After D&C
Only one choice allowed

As I mentioned before mine took donkeys and they were a real pain in the ass. It wasn't until they were back to 0 that I was able to move on - until then it was a constant reminder of what should have been.

How do you all know this? I haven't had any kind of monitoring, should I be? I miscarried at 9weeks and just had the one blood test at the hospital that day

Not neccessarily, but it really does depend. If your period returned within 3-4 weeks of the D&C and you've haven't had bad cramping, heavy heavy bleeding or a temp or feeling sick, then it is likely your body has healed itself well. Just remember you are the consumer of your medical treatment, the customer. You can at any time go to your GP and ask to have a blood test to see that your HCG is tracking down.

I haven't had my HCGs monitored to >5 with all of my miscarriages, but I also never had complications with infection or retained products either. So it really all depends on what is normal for you. smile

I miscarried naturally but in 2 bleeds, one finished about 2weeks ago. I went to the doctor in between but she never sent me for more so I assumed it was over. This whole thing is so confusing!

Just an update on here: Mine took 14 weeks to drop in the end, they eventually diagnosed me as having a partial molar pregnancy.

Katiepie83 - Most woman drop in a reasonable time and don't get followed up, the only reason I got followed up was because I was still testing positive on a pregnancy test a while after and because I had an abnormal pathology result when they tests the contents of my uterus.

Katiepie - when you say 2 bleeds how far apart were they? Is it possible the second was your period? Surprisingly for me only 2 weeks after mc bleed finished I got my period. I only know this because I was monitored until HCG was zero. Most doctors actually want to see a zero result so it's odd that your doc didn't suggest you do this. But as has already been said you can request this for peace of mind if you need it.

If you have no other complications like on going pain, bleeding &/or fever ie infection then you have nothing to worry about. It's amazing how the body can recover so quickly or not in some cases.

Hi RainyDay, I had wondered the same thing as the second bleed was about 2.5 weeks after the first bleed finished, but as I'd been told at a scan between that I would be bleeding again I assumed that it couldn't have been my period. It was heavy enough to have been tho. I really don't know?
When I went to the doctor in the weeks between she suggested I go for an iron test in a week or so as I had been quite tired (so if I kept feeling that way) and that asked for a hcg test too but said I didn't need to go if I was feeling ok so I didn't.
Physically I've been absolutely fine since the first bleed really so I haven't given it much thought (obviously emotionally is another story).
Thanks for your help
