I had a CRAPPY first day! Did some baking with the 2 yr old.....ate a handful of chocolate chips. Brownie came out of the oven .....I ate 4!!!!!!!!! pieces faint It WAS healthy food guide brownie, but still TERRIBLE! (but delicious)

Punished myself this morning with a harder workout that I had planned, but it still only worked off half the calories of that darn brownie!

Beekay - I like your 'wanky' comments! So true for me too. I'm feeling grumpy and annoyed because I'm trying to sort the house out for it to go on the market and instead of just getting on with it I want to sit down and eat something yummy even though I'm not hungry. Better go and clean those damn windows - I know I'll feel better once it's done.

I totally get where you're coming from Beekay. For me, being able to diet is about being able to control things. When I'm not in control (or my feelings usually) then everything goes out the window.

Plus, when you're eating well, you find things to do instead of eating, and for me, that's usually tidying!

Amie, I find that I just can't bake with the kids (in these first few weeks) I caqn't resist 'just a little' which always turns into more, so I just avoid it. Which is a shame, as I love the process of baking as much as the product, so I have decided that I will bake for others (and make them fat instead giggle )

For me the control thing is a bit of a problem. I'm either totally in control or totally out of control. There's no inbetween. So if I slip up then I think, well I've already blown it I may as well eat everything in sight.

Walked around the craters of the moon today but at kids pace so it doesn't really count lol. Looking forward to getting back on WW when we get back. I'm so sick of being big over summer. It's when i notice it the most and am the most uncomfortable. It would be so wonderful if next summer I can actually enjoy summer. I think a 25kg loss would get me just to the top of my healthy weight range. Is that doable in a year?

Love the ticker Rachel - full steam ahead now! How cool would it be to be slimmer for next summer!

Went for another run/walk this morn - so unfit I had to wear glasses and hat so incognito but still saw someone I knew lol! Definitely find I am better all day if I start with some exerc - fine while dh home this week but will struggle next week!

Not off to a good start here either blush I had to go and meet up with a lady that Im going into business with and we went out for lunch. Steak sandwich, hot chips and a nice cold beer blush

Messy Mama that sort of a loss is possible yes my advice would be to focus on a loss each week. The amount doesnt matter so much as long is your weight is going down. Dont even think about that one month hurdle - by doing that your putting it out there and subconsciously counting down to it.

Beekay that makes sense yes

incognito!! thats a funny vision to conjure up - well done for venturing out babyt.

I can't believe I have added weight this last week having been tracking my food on Fitday and eating healthy stuff, I will persevere!!

Thanks for posting your wanky motives etc Beekay, heres mine:

I am approaching this year with a more 'technical approach' in the hope I can reason with myself and rationalise the consequences of the binge eating I succumb to. My problem is that I want to lose weight to be the sporty person I was 25 years ago, but the reality is I'm too old and slow, my dh does not support my fitness exploits and being a stone heavier is my excuse. its a mental thing about losing/not winning I have to come to terms with so I deliberatly sabbotage myself.

Have done my calcs and based on my body fat % my first goal is just to lose 3.5kg in 8 weeks whilst retaining my muscle mass which is I reckon achievable.

I am struggling to reach the 60:20:20 carb:fat:protein%. My carbs are too low and fat too high...

Any ideas on low fat high carb foods I can add to my food list?

Pasta? Fruit? Quinoa? Couscous?
My scales are up despite a pretty good effort, but I think it's probably because I deserved a bigger gain than showed last week rofl This time of year is bloody hard, we have a birthday party at McDonalds today, then a dinner out with my brother and niece before they go back overseas tomorrow. My whole thing is that I know I do not have the ironclad will food wise, so am up despite being up in the night for 3 hours and will go for a run. Against my own will rofl

Good morning - hope everyone had a good day yesterday. I discovered that if I don't go for a walk first thing in the morning it may not happen later in the day. So, no exercise yesterday frown but I have been for my walk this morning while DH and DS are still asleep. Will need another strategy once DH goes back to work but this is OK for now.
Messy Mama - great ticker! Yes , very important to have a great ticker wink and I know what you mean about all in control or totally out of control. I find it hard to find a happy medium - I open a bottle of coke and drink way more than I need, so it's easier for me not to even have one. By the end of the year I hope to have learnt about moderation. giggle
Amie - I love baking too! But sadly, I eat it all way to quickly! For now, i'm going to save baking for just special occasions until I can learn to have just one and then put the lid back on the container!
Have a good day everyone!

casey35, I find the samething, if I don't go first thing in the morning, things seem to come up over the day and I don't end up exercising. I am so not a morning person though.

Been to the gym this morning, first time since we went away, I now have jelly legs!

Messy Mama .5kg a week is a great loss - means you are more likely to keep it off long-term too. I hear you on feeling slimmer over summer as this extra weight makes it so much hotter. Next summer we will look hotter but not feel hotter wink

Babyt lol to being incognito! peek

Demi-chook oh I totally understand about wanting to be that fit sporty person I used to be!!! That is where I lose motivation too because I wish I could run how I used to. As for carbs, what about porridge with fruit, more vege with dinner or salad-y foods with lunch/dinner. Beekay had some good suggestions.

You all have such insight into where you go wrong - all I know is I am lazy and can't be bothered to exercise. As for food, I have had issues with eating the right types of food my whole life (I'm an IUGR baby too lol) but I'm slowly getting better.

Casey35 I am terrible with moderation so now we don't have treat foods in the house and I refuse to buy them at the dairy/gas station as they are a rip-off. But when I go out for a meal it is all over... wine, pasta, choc etc. My other problem is when DP eats at night it makes me want to eat too. The problem is that he can afford to eat it as he is physically active all day whereas being with a toddler is tiring but not really using all that many calories ITMS.

I have been doing 4-5 km walks this week with DD & pram (combined weight of about 25 kg - sweat my butt off pushing that up hills) and have entered the westfield summer series starting 22 Jan eek!!! covereyes Now I have to keep up my walks because I don't want to come last.

I'm not a baker, I think I'd be double the size if I did, cause love cake mixture and cookie dough and then of course have to test one or 10 aft they come out of the oven.

I prefer morning walks too Casey that's why I think morning kindy will be a great way to get me to walk. I find it really hard to add exercise into my routine but if it's something I'm already doing anyway (like going to kindy) then it's a lot easier.

I wish knitting and typing burned calories lol

I'm lazy too zen and we need to get rid of all junk food from our house. This time if year is always hard as DH is a teacher and gets given so much chocolate as presents at the end of the year. Tho he really wants to lose weight too so it's easier if we are doing it together.

If you do bum clenches while sitting you'd burn some giggle or swap your chair for a swiss ball.

My default setting is lazy over-eater, so I'm really having to push myself to change!
I like morning exercise too, but with DH starting so early in the morning I have to do it at home with 2 or 3 'helpers'.

This morning my 5 yr old kept saying 'go faster mum, you're going too slow!' angrywife

went for an early cycle with some girlfriends this morning and then jogged after for 20mins.

Thanks for food tips -
Despite not eating the quite the right proportions my % bodyfat is decreasing slightly - now at 25.2% so i guess making a change in the right direction still makes a difference.

When does your daughter start morning kindy messymama?? I love my morning kindy dropoff walks!!!

I am definitely a morning exercise person, if I don't do it then, I don't do it!! anohter 20mins on the stepper this morning smile I want to sit on my butt and knit in the evenings!

I am also a baker, I find when I am trying to refocus on my weightloss I just can't bake for a few weeks, then after that, I seem to be able to bake and resist it mostly, and I try and bake things that I don't love (so I am never again makihgn Nigellas mint chocolate cookies - I ate the whole batch!)
