I like to look at the terms/words a little different.
For instance:
'Diet' = Your daily food/water intake - its what you eat.
'Overeating' = snacking - you are a snacker and enjoy eating.
I am a snacker, I constantly eat/snack.
My meals are organised, I have no biscuits/cake or potato chips in the pantry. Instead buy bulk dried fruit, whole nuts and seeds that I mix and seal in snack sized click clack containers. Goji berries (energy) Dates, blueberries, cranberries, whole almonds, linseeds, pumpkin seeds etc. I will an up N go for a snack.
If I feel like chips, I will have 'delights' crackers instead, divided into containers of course. Miso soup (gd for weight loss)
I do some baking (muffins), but swap sugar for honey.
Low fat muslie bars like superfruits 'nice & Natural
I have breakfast (egg on toast / muslie n fruit), lunch and dinner with about 4 snacks a day. My main meals are high protien, chicken, steamed fish (very filling, even without rice), tuna. I use lots of spices, this helps lift your metabolic rate.
I use mountain bread to make salad wraps to take to work for lunch.
desert I will have unsweetened yoghurt and fresh fruit (kiwi)
Drink plenty of green tea and water all day.
Try and fit some exercise - brisk walk round the block every second day, is a good starting point if don't exercise of a regular basis.
You want to satisfy your snack cravings without eating the wrong foods. For instance a bag of apples will be a bad thing. So everything in moderation, and keep your portions small for red meat - (palm size)
Check your blood type as well, I was really surprised what foods my body found difficult to digest. Should find it online.
I use to chew gum, but that just made my jaw ache and I felt even hungrier.
I guess I am an emotional eater, but I snack with all of my moods, I have just learnt to have my snacks on hand, (I have a stash in my car)
As I understand it even if you did have gastric surgery, you would still have the cravings and the urge to eat. So to me you may never feel satisfied. Plus you will need to consider the risks in surgery.
Hope this helps
