Oh PK Got the Telly/computer working last night. Had kids up til 9pm watching movies and then I saw free loaders in Ds hair so put him in the bath with stuff in his hair and combed them out an changed his sheets and pillow Put kids to bed and ordered pizza and watched big bang theory and Dh got home around 11.45pm. Didn't go to bed for an hour and then he was up at 5am for work in Welly. Have just got kids to take decorations off Xmas tree and it's down and in the shed. naughty kids don't get Santa!

Oh PK - I remember all 4 of us had chicken pox not long before Christmas. My little brother was about 2 (he was the youngest of us) and he was just totally miserable - high temps, cried all the time, wanted to be held but couldn't stand being held. Horrible for all of us. Thankfully for my mother we got them all quite quickly one after another and I and one other sister were the middle of us to get them and I remember being so glad I was able to make it back to school for the last week of Form 2. Richard wasn't too far behind us so he must have got over it before Christmas as well.
A lot of people think I'm over protective since all my 3 have had the vaccine - actually better find out what the current thinking is on how long it lasts for W's sake as he had it at 18 months or so when he got exposed but high risk for complications so we raced off and got the jab to help prevent or minimise the infection. Must have worked because they've all be exposed frequently and never had it.
Cleaning going on here too - until dh's decided to go to bed because he's soooo exhausted. He does have a concert to sing this evening in his defence but still...I've had at least two 1am bedtimes this week and the other day I was falling asleep on the couch at 6:30. Bah, tired he doesn't really get!
Got to cook dinner early too - he needs to be gone by 5:30 - but he's taking the older two to the concert so once T's in bed by 7:30 the evening is mine! Someone has to do the ironing though and it's over 22o here today...

Got a text from dh mum yesterday saying their job is off tomorrow so they aren't coming over anymore. I have a size 18 farking chicken that I got in the hope of enticing them to stay for dinner. Now what do I do with it?

CL - roast the chicken, put left overs in a quiche, mayo sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, risotto etc - keeping them in an airtight container will let them last for a good few days and you can cook other dinner with them.

Klugar, sounds like you need it. Fake it till you make it. Put your foot down. Even if they are not happy with it. Did you point out how bright the lights at the oval would be? I would tell them about that, they might reconsider putting the deposit down if they didn't realise that! If not then their own fault and they will have to deal with all the lights. Also i suggest you put your foot down,. its not good for a kid (let alone you) to be stuck in a car that much, tell them to go look on their own! YES it'll make them unhappy, but it means you wont feel so shit in the long run, and as they (he) begins to realise you are your own person you'll have to say no a whole lot less!
