I have to share this: I decided that I need to get an even tighter control on my blood glucose and I know that the only way to do this was to really tighten up my carb counting and become less conservative in my rapid dose.

My maths? Is appalling, always has been. So what ive been doing is, you know, the 'guesstimate' where you eye a piece of potential carbs, guess in your head then try to calculate how much you think it would be IE see 2x toast. Guess its 30g carbs, ratio is 1:13 so inject 3 units.

Well, as you can imagine this works well if you are happy with 7.5 as your hba1c, which mine is and has been for ages now lol But ive decided that with TTC, its time to get on top of it.

SO what i did? Was buy a SMARTPHONE laugh laugh Seriously, the smallest thing in the world (i got it for $100 off trademe) and I can already see a difference in the last two days. I havnt always been a prolific tester but lately i have been and I hadnt been noticing any trends cos I hadnt been using a log book (too much hassle, takes too long, too bulky etc etc)

So i use an on my computer software that does all my logging (manual input but it works REALLY WELL) but i needed something I could carry with me. So, smartphone with APPS! I downloaded a couple of apps, enlisted my partner to help me configure the numbers I needed and BAM! Its awesome!! Like i said,I can already see a difference in being able to see, straight away my numbers for the day in such an easy to view format and at the end of the day i transfer the numbers off my phone onto my compter and BAM! Instant results.. And also it has the added feature of having a bolus calculator so it can help me figure out how much rapid to inject..

Anyway, IM just really really excited for theprospect of lower hba1c and I thought id share my news smile

Good to see that you have found a helpful system to get your figures under sorted, and in time under control, Owly.

I think when one gets organised and begins seeing results it certainly helps with control and the Hb1Ac tends to drop - so i am wondering how of a part does stress really count in the raising of ones BSL's, quite a lot i suspect.
