Hi everyone,
I have a 6 week old wee girl who has just been put on Omeprazole suspension. Any hints/ideas for getting it into her??? Have tried a medicine dummy (she won't take it) and a syringe (she spits it out or chokes, 5ml is alot to get into a wee girl!!!). My son was on the suspension but it was 4 1/2 years ago and I can't remember how we got it into him, or if we ever did??? Our paed wants us to give the suspension a go before we move to the capsules due to her age. Thanks heaps!!!

Will she take a bottle?

I use the bottle teat with the ring and put it into bubba's mouth and then squirt the medicine into the teat as he sucks away at it, voila! Much the same as the dummy I guess but he wouldn't take that either.

We now use this method for pamol and other thicker meds too, use a cross cut teat for the thicker ones.

Hope it helps smile

Hi Roz, I only tried for 2 days and gave up. Rang paed and we decided to just give Neocate a go by itself (she has CMPA) and then if things didn't improve go on Omeprazole capsules. We started capsules a week ago and there's been a huge improvement! She's been on Neocate for 4 weeks now, taking so long to sort out her allergy. Never thought it would be such a slow process.
