Hey ya.
Well if you have read any of my posts in here (and there are on a couple lol), you will know Im 27yo and have hot flushes.

My dr put me on Estelle contraceptive 7mths ago for confirmed pcos, but in the past two months, the hot flushes, mood swings, junk food eating etc have come back.

Dr has put me on some medication to help the flushing, but today in town I was at a health shop explaining my situation and I could see them not believe me until a freaking flush came over and they were gobsmacked. I was EMBARRASSED! shocked

So what do you take to help with your flushing?

Its not just day flushing, its wake in the night covered in sweat and all cold n sticky flushing too.

Thanks

I don't have hot flushes too bad. (had my ovaries out this year so am in menopause - at 37)
but what seems to help me I believe is no alcohol and no caffeine.
I believe these 2 things make flushes worse.
See if there is a link for you personally.

the only other thing is layer clothing so you can strip off a cardigan/jacket etc when you feel one coming on - then it won't last as long.

I have heard black cohosh is good for hot flushes, although I haven't actually tried it.

good luck, and let us know how you go.

Yeah I have a book with holistic stuff in it, but because Im on a contraceptive, I cant take black cohosh (the lady at the health shop said its kinda pointless for a hormone control thing).

Thanks NightSky laugh

hey Chicken Little

I'm 37, ovaries stopped working 7 years ago, and HRT stops my hot flushes and night sweats.

If you're on hormones, shouldn't they relieve the flushes? Maybe the dosage is wrong?

Is your doctor worried you're still having them even though he's given you medication?

I think this is something worth being a bit concerned about, maybe...

Hi NZEM

Im not on any hormones as such. Just a contraceptive to get my estrogen up (well thats what she said lol).

Hey CL... by hormones I was referring to the pill you're on, sorry for the confusion!
My guess is your dose is too low for you. Everyone's different and it's trial and error getting it right. Hot flashes are a symptom of oestrogen deficiency and ovaries do funny and undpredictable things.
I've changed my HRT 4 of 5 times in the last 7 years due to symptoms of too much (tender breasts) and too little (hot flushes) oestrogen.
If I were you, I'd ask for a higher dose, but be prepared to have to continue to tweak it from time to time.
Good luck!
