Hi all,

I've been in remission for just over 2 years. Got the go ahead from my gastro specialist that we can try for a baby a few months ago. I'm now lucky enough to be 5 weeks pregnant BUT I seem to be having little inkly feelings that somethings not right with my UC. TMI but I've started creating a bit of colitis frown

I spent my last pregnany coming to terms with being diagnosed with UC and dealing with a flare up and I really hope it's not happening this time.

Just looking really for other peoples experiences with pregnancy and UC. Were you ok?

I think I am just being precious but I'm just worried.

Thanks

are you on any meds?

for me pregnancy made my crohn's almost "disappear".
i was fine right up until 37 weeks when i had a flare up (went to hospital) and that brought on early labour a couple of days later

Hi Olivia,

Yes I'm on meds - azathioprine 150mg once daily and asacol 1600mg twice daily. Have been really good and settled for the last 2 years.

Such a horrible time the first few months of pregnancy - so much going on and I worry at every bowel pain - but they're probably just pelvic twinges LOL.

btw - looks like our wee girls birthdays are only a few days apart.

LOL nothing like being a worry wart aye?? I've started taking Elevit with Iodine as well and they turn your poop black blush...that was a bit of fright before I found that out. I was like "oh man what's going on now???"

Hopefully this time is more smooth sailing. Now when I look back I wonder what was UC and what was actually pregnancy LOL

My daughter's birthday is the 16th September so it was just her birthday the other day - although she's now like her birthday to be every day. When's your wee girls??

Oh cute - our girls are only a few days apart.

Am starting steriods. So annoying haven't seen my UC for 2 years. Hopefully don't have to spend this pregnancy on steriods too

Oh thanks for thinking of me - It is going ok thanks smile

Baby seems to have handled the steriods ok and have now managed to get down to 3mg once daily. Bubs doesn't seem to have growth problems or anything so that has been a huge relief.
Still a bit of pain and discomfort but I think that all comes with the territory really.

Only 10 more weeks to go eeeekkkk
