Hi all
I have a situation which I have not seen anywhere (and I have looked a bit). I wonder if anyone has had similar or can give some advice.

I had a miscarriage at the beginning of the year following IVF (3rd time). I had a D & C and everything was OK. Then I was due to have a hysteroscopy in May. Just before I went to theatre they gave me a pregnancy test and it was positive. Three days later I learnt it was a missed miscarriage. I had the medication and miscarried on 20 May. Then I waited for things to return to normal and my HCG was being tested. At some stage it went up instead of down and my specialist told me that I had got pregnant again(before having a period). Again the pregnancy was a missed miscarriage but this time my specialist suggested that I wait for my period.

Well it is now September and I have not had a period. I have been regularly having blood tests for HCG. It has taken months to go down. I have tried everything including accupuncture and chinese herbs. Last week the HCG was 12. It had been 471 in July! My question is what happened to the miscarriage? I have had no bleeding whatsoever since before May this year. Once my HCG gets to 0 what will happen? I am hoping that I will get a period. Should I have had differnet advice from my specialist? Thanks for your help.

I would be talking to a specialist about the possibility of a molar/partial molar pregnancy ASAP.

I hope you can get some answers soon.

grouphug I'd be going back to a/your doctor yes

I assume that the missed miscarriages were confirmed by ultrasound ie they could see an embryo but no heartbeat, in the uterus? In which case you are probably ok as your hcgs are very close to non-pregnant levels. When your hcgs drop below 5-10 you will most likely get your period but I'd probably want the all clear myself before ttc again. I don't think that it taking three months for your hcgs to fall is unheard of - I think others on this board have had very slow falling hcgs.

Interesting that you required IVF to fall pregnant but then conceived naturally 2x immediately after your first loss.

Thanks for your comments.
It is very interesting that I fell pregnant naturally. I have two children, 16 years old and 3 years old. I had thought that I was very fertile. I got pregnant with my 3 year old within 3 months, then after he was born I got pregnant again while fully breastfeeding when he was 3 months old! Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in miscarriage. I think that the D & C I had then caused some kind of damage. The D & C was followed by Clomid, IUI and 3 IVF. I could not fall pregnant during that time.

It was only after a second D & C early this year that I think my uterus was flushed out and allowed me to fall pregnant.

My specialist is amazed that I can get pregnant (twice in two months) naturally given that I am 43. I had tried to tell them that I was fertile before the D & C but no one listened to me. I have no problems with number of eggs just the quality and sticking.

Hi to you all and I hope you don't mind me dropping in....I don't feel like I should go on the preg boards yet as I just don't know....

I've been on EBB for years off and on...hubby and I have many angels in Heavens playground, the last two Violet and Alice in the last 5 mths...

I've come on here today as we are still trying and I'm beginning to think that maybe I'm pregnant again, but to scared right now to test afraid Am off tea, really tired and on and off sore @@'s. (I do that when I am) I am thinking I'll wait until mid next week and then test... seem at the moment to have trouble getting past 6weeks... so fingerscrossed this is it and we can make this happen!

I hope you all get BFP's soon! Its such a hard road...

Hi Dasher's Girl, congrats on the hope of being pg. Just do a test whenever you are ready to deal with the outcome.

Hi Walni,

I had a year where I had 3 pg's when I was 39-40 and the specialist said I was beating all the odds. Especially as his test showed that I only had a limited stock of eggs left. Sadly non of those were sticky baby's, all early miscariages and missed miscariages. Did you get the latest miscariages confirmed with a scan or where they just an assumption? I would go back to the doctor to check if there are no retained products to keep the HCG levels up.
