I decided with the upgrade we are doing at Crying Over Spilt Milk that it would be best to post this list here. Please add your own dairy free ideas.

Bake your normal recipes using a safe milk and margarine.
Biscuits - Crazy faces, Nice biscuits - 03/09/2005
Boston buns - these are often dairy free
Chocolate - dairy free stuff is available. Pam's chocolate chips are dairy free
Chocolate Mousse - Packet mix by Orgran is dairy free and made by adding water - 17/10/2006
Crackers - Ritz, ? snax, arnotts shapes chicken crimpy flavour - 03/09/2005
Crumpets (check they are dairy free) with goldern syrup on them make a nice sweet treat
Databases - http://www.mfd.co.nz/ and http://www.pams.co.nz/Products/ProductSearch.aspx
Eskimo sweets - I'm a fan of these and they are dairy free
Flavours - watch the flavourings on chips and crackers as these often contain dairy products even in flavours such as salt'n'vinegar.
Fudge works fine with dairy free alternatives and makes a good chocolate or other sweet fix. The Speedy Sweets recipe on Crying Over Spilt Milk can be made dairy free, and is quick and easy.
Margarine - the majority of these contain milk products so read the label. The low fat one's are often dairy free but may not result in such good baking. Basics is one that is dairy free and works well, as is Olivani. - Updated 17/10/2006 Crown Public Health
Muesli Bars - Mother's Earth fruit topped - 03/09/2005, Nice and Natural Apricot and Chocolate bar (contains Peanuts) - 17/10/2005
Soy Milk - vanilla soy milk is yum in coffee
Strawberry mallows (paradise brand) - 03/09/2005
USEFUL RESOURCE: Milk Free Diet for Breastfeeding Mothers - Crown Public Health
NB: YOU NEED TO CHECK THE LABELS EACH TIME YOU BUY ANY OF THESE FOODS AS THEY ARE LIABLE TO CHANGE AND I DON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR SHARING THIS INFORMATION.

Oh and a note about just how imperative reading labels is - Pate', I bought some thinking it would make a nice snack and yep, it has milk protein in it!
Crazy crazy crazy.

And Spaghetti brands - Watties plain spaghetti, Pams and Oak have cheese in their sauce. At Pak'n'Save, only the budget brand doesn't have milk in it.

Something Miss 15 has found is that she doesn't like Rice Milk and reacts to Soy. She can and does drink Rice Milk though with a tablespoon or two of coconut cream added. Use a mix of these to increase the fat content and improve the flavour in your favourite recipes.

For little ones starting to teeth and starting solids, Orgran Crispibites are just like cruskits, made with corn and a bit of salt (not sure if they have dairy or soy or both but I know we don't use it for one of those reasons I can't remember now!)

Also for littlies, Orgran Animal biscuits, Nairns oatcakes.

Thank you. Great to have some updated ideas. I'm out of date really as I'm gluten free too.

I should add though that Leda have bought out some chocolate chip cookies that taste like Griffins, are DF, EF, GF and reasonably priced for such an item.
