Back again and I simply cannot believe it sad
Am I being punished for something terrible I must have done in a past life!

Has anyone had an abdominal stitch for an incompetent cervix?

Oh Pipp, I'm so very sorry for your loss sad You must be devastated.

I haven't had the stitch in either, but we do have a couple on this forum who have, hopefully they'll be along to talk to you soon.

Morning Ladies, thank you for your replies – apologies for yesterday, I was feeling a bit fragile and dramatic.
It’s hard when we have struggled for so long to conceive, to then have our perfectly healthy girls taken from us too soon... crushing

I had the McDonald cerclage this pregnancy but obviously this wasn’t enough to prevent another early labour. We have since been told that our only option now is an Abdominal stitch or Laparoscopic cervical cerclage but it seems this is very uncommon.

Off to for the first follow up with the obstetrician this afternoon so hopefully he will shed some more light on what went wrong and how we can prevent it from EVER happening again!!

Thank you again for the lovely words of support and hugs.. I needed them smile

Pipp, one of my friends had it done earlier this year in Wellington.

She lost a baby at 18 weeks and there really wasn't any cervix left to stitch vaginally so abdominally was the only option and it wasn't done laprascopic - she was opened up and ended up with a C-Section type wound.

It went really well and she gave birth to a gorgeous little boy 3 weeks ago at 35 weeks.

She is in Wellington and it was done by Jeremy Tuohy and John Tait together. Happy to find out more information from her if you like.

Good luck!!
