hi im new here, i am 22 years old and was diagnosed with a form of crohn's called proctitis. i was diagnosed about 3 and a half years ago. since then i have been in hospital about 4 times with flare ups where i had to have i.v steroids to get it under control. at the start i only has the first 10cm of my bowel affected now it is 20cm's.
i am currently dealing with another flare up and i have been feeling rubbish and on and of work for the last 8 months.
i find stress seems to make it flare up a lot. i live in christchurch so with all these quakes i'm feeling stressed and on edge so i don't feel that all that is happening is really helping.
i'm meant to work full time but at the moment i'm finding it really hard to even work 3 days. for the past 3 years work have been really understanding and great with me but as for the past 8 months iv been off a lot sick with my crohn's they are starting to get tiresome.and from a business point of view i guess they are starting to wonder weather i am worth keeping on. i do understand where they re coming from but i don't want to lose my job. i love my job. and of course i need my job to afford to live.
has anybody else had problems with working?
any advise on what i can do?

Hey
I guess I am really lucky with my work as my boss and the guys I work with are really supportive.

It might pay to gather a whole bunch of information on crohn's that explains the conditions the side effects etc and sit down with your boss and even your co workers and discuss the condition with them as best you can.

It may well be that they don't relly understand the condition and what it is and how it affects you. The more detail you can go into probably the better as they may never ask you about it again, well that's what I have found anyway.

Good luck

Also if you are on Facebook, look out for some of the forums and groups on there, as they can be very helpful with ideas and the people are all going through the same things as us.

take care

Maree
