Hi there. My 7 monther is in the midst of an athma 'flare'. Yesterday, took him to docs twice - first time told to give 3 puffs ventolin 4 hourly (did so) but he got worse as the day progressed. Took him back, and as he was worse he was prescribed redipred (this was about 2pm) and to give 18 puffs ventolin (6 puffs, wait 5min, 3 cycles), hourly. I have done this, and it has made a huge huge improvement but this morning after 2 doses redipred, and his ventolin, he continues to be quite wheezy. At home he is retracting a little under/between ribs/and trachea, but strangely when we go outside (cool air) this subsides heaps. I always thought warm air was best for asthmatics?
So I have a few Qs.
1)Would you take baby back to doctor today, since he is not 100% despite hourly ventolin, and 2 lots redipred? Or am I being overreactive?
2) Could be be allergic to *something* in our house that causes his symptoms to be worse at home than in another location? We dont have fresh flowers, no carpet (hardwood floors). our home is not damp and kept warm with heatpump.
Both doctors (saw a different one each time) were confident that this is not bronchiolitis but instead actually asthma.
