Hey all,

Has anyone got one of these? They look like a decent people mover type car with *shock horror* fuel efficiency! We would look at getting the 'Z' model which has split seats in the middle row.

But, yanno, we have had Estimas before and that is pretty much it. We have a decent hill to get up to our house so it needs to be grunty enough to do that with a car load of kids and groceries.

We have just purchased the Ipsum.. so the next version up from the wish and love it.

I read a number of reviews like this one

http://ipsum240.blogspot.com/2009/07/wish-and-ipsum-and-estima.html

I love how spacious it is and the "secret" boot is certainly pretty cool so there is plenty of storage space in it.

We have decided on the Ipsum too, based on its popularity and also what I have read online. Have you read the comprehensive "Mumbus" thread here on OT? Might be some Wish owners on there.

I'll have to wade through that thread SJ.

We have looked at the Ipsum, but the Wish has better fuel economy, and we like the seat configuration as well.

The Wishes we looked at had the same seat configuration as the Ipsum.

Ours has three across the middle row (one of those being a lap belt though) and two at the back, so suitable for adults as well.

Not sure on the fuel economy but you're probably right as the Wish is generally an 1800 or 2000cc vs the Ipsum being a 2400cc We needed something that would be grunty enough to tow our caravan if necessary and it will do that no problem.

You might need something gruntier than a 2l if you're carting kids/groceries/luggage up big hills.

Well, you can't drive fast up the windy road so I don't see any point in having a huge grunty car which costs a bomb to drive, yanno? Anyway, we have a little 1600 which gets up the hill okay with 4 of us in it and luggage, it's just not big enough to take all of us (has a middle lap belt in back seat).

We have an Estima 2.4l Supercharger at the moment and it costs us $30 in gas to get to Manurewa and back (100km round trip!) faint.

We have an Ipsum as well and I like the size for a family car. We looked at the Wish, but decided it was just too small for us - when the back seats were in use, there was no luggage space... With the Ipsum, there is still space and if we just need one seat in the back, we can fold the other down and have more storage.

As a comparison, it costs about $100 to fill our Ipsum from completely empty and we generally get about 500k on a tank for city driving, closer to 550 - 600k for open road. It's a 2001 so not a really new model either.

Main drawback is that the middle seat in the middle row is a lapbelt, so really only usable with a carseat - not a problem for us though b/c we'll have a carseat there for the next 4 years anyway! smile
