for those of you who were on pessaries and estrogen tabs when did you stop? & did you go cold turkey or wean yourself?
Im torn lol, part of me is loving the day that i can stop having pills going in each end, but im also worried when that day comes seeing ive been using them so long
next scan is next thurs so suppose i'll find out then

Also did any of you have strong/hot pains in your pubic bone area early on? I had it yesterday for a couple hours then it went

Hi Tryin4baby#1. I weaned at different times with both pregnancies, due to being with different clinics

Chch had me wean at about 12-13w, I think, I can't remember exactly. They did a bt to check my natural estrogen levels first, anyway.

Down here in Dunedin, they just said I could wean at 10w, no bt required. Slightly scarier approach! But all was fine. The weaning (from memory) was to go down from 2 pessaries three times a day to 1 pessary 3xday for a week, then stop. The estradiol went from one pill 3xday to 1 pill 2xday, for a week, then stop.

Your clinic must have told you what they want you to do though?

I was under the impression that we would go off them after our scan last thurs, once at that appointment she said "did i have enough til the next scan" i was stunned mullet that our lil peanut was doing so well i forgot to ask if that meant we'd go off them then lol

Hi Tryin . Yes same as Britishlass. I came off the pessaries at around 12/13 weeks. No BT but my midwife and Obs both said body doesnt need assistance after that time. Its all really scare as I had been on so many drugs including heparin injections and stopping them meant I had to trust my own body to look after itself. Down to only aspirin daily now and of course Elevit, so its a breeze!

I'm on those wonderful pessaries too Dunedin Fertility Clinic said to stop 12 weeks, no mention about weaning but I guess there is still time for that. I am supposed to take baby asprin thru till the end of the pregnancy, zinc and iodeine. They didn't mention anything about estrogen .. should I be questioning this ???

Ruby, you only need oestradiol tablets (an oestrogen replacement) if you are doing a manufactured cycle ie an embryo replacement cycle where you don't ovulate naturally. If you ovulated in the cycle that you had the embryo transferred, the follicle that released the embryo will release oestrogen.
Manufactured cycles are mostly used for those of us with PCOS or long/unpredictable cycles for other reasons.

Oestradial also taken with the IVF Colorado cycle too.....for those of us who have tried everything else....

Dunedin will tell you when you need to stop taking pessaries. They have been wonderfully supportive of us throughout this whole journey.
