It started with a couple of tiny blister like lumps on my fingers which itch heaps when I am hot now I have them on my back as well and they seem to be slowly growing in numbers. They almost look like a fresh coldsore but no tingling or pain. I thought it might be a fungal type thing so tried a fungal cream but it made no difference. I showed them to the Pharmacist and she had no idea so suggested a hydrocautazone (SP?) cream which hasn't helped any.

They are clear - not red at all although I have been itching them so have taken the skin off in some places and made them red. They don't hurt and are only itchy when I am hot.

Any ideas? Anyone had something similar?

I have a Dr appointment but in usual fashion I can't get in until middle of next week so looking for ideas in the mean time???

That is what my excema on my hands goes like if I don't treat it. Sometimes its just dry other times it is as you have describe, crazy & insanely itchy little blister type things. Apparantly I have contact dermititis & it is worse when my hands are in contact with chemicals like washing powders, liquids and dust mites as well.
I would keep using some hydrocortisone cream it will settle it down really well with in a day if you use it enough (if it is excema that is, otherwise i have no idea). I also find that running my fingers under REALLY hot water takes away the itch, or you could try ice on it as well.
So maybe thats helpful, all the best for the docs, it must be so annoying!

I got this with an allergic reaction to a new body wash and face wash (Dove). It went down when I started taking Loratadine?

I also have contact dermititis and it is exactly like that when its bad, clear blisters under the skin, like lil bubbles that itch like crazy! I had to wear gloves for a while as my skin got so sensitive. Hydrocortizone works for me, and avoiding things that set it off. I have to avoid hot water or cold though as I have chillblains and that makes it unbearable, my dr said they can go hand in hand somehow?? its always worse in winter for me. (not sure on her scientific reasoning though...but worth mentioning) I hope it clears soon!

I have something similar on one of mine fingers and hydrocortizone seems to be keeping it at bay so I'd continue with that and maybe try an antihistamine as suggested above. It took about three to four days before the itching abated and that was applying twice a day.

Thanks for your replies. I really don't know what it causing it but it is spreading and is now on my tummy and chest although my hands where it first started aren't as itchy now so that is something. The hydro cream is helping.

I have had the lumps for about 5 weeks and I don't think I have had anything new around that time so really don't know what it is. Dr appointment tomorrow so hoping he has some answers!

Wizz851 - thanks! The best advice I can give is that it takes time and sometimes you go off the rails but don't let that be the end of the weightloss just put it past you and carry on. You CAN do it and keep it off and boy does it feel fantastic grin Feel free to pm me.

agree Snap Suche! I've kept mine at bay by not using any commercial liquid soaps or bar soaps. I have all my soaps made for me now which don't contain any harsh chemicals, and from that I make my own liquid soap. I've also pretty much cut out chemicals in the laundry and use soap nuts to wash clothes.

I use a barrier/protective cream on my hands "Invisible Glove", especially when going out when I will have to use commercial soaps.

It's made a huge difference, my hands are almost back to normal and I only have the odd bump and itch on them now, not bleeding cracked hands that used to keep me awake at night with the intense itching frown

Well the Dr said it was definitely a contact allergy but thought it was strange combination on my hands and back. He's given me an antihistamine and different cream and said it should calm down in about 3 or 4 days but so far there is no improvement, although my hands are almost back to normal but my back is very itchy. He did say if I don't stop using whatever is causing it it will keep coming back so I am trying to figure out what it could be.

I did buy a new thermal top around that time so I have stopped wearing it - no change, and I will buy different laundry powder to see if that helps but the powder I use isn't new and things like body wash I use a different brand every time I buy one - whatever looks and smells nice at the time wink so I don't think it could be that.

Anyone have any other ideas?

How about pollen? I know here in west auck where we are the pollen season has been terrible the whole year & hardly any break, so perhaps an increase in the pollen that is around may be causing it? But then that isn't usually what causes contact dermatitis, but certianly my dry excema is worse & my sons skin is terrible right now because of it.......

Also another thought, maybe the powder you use isn't different but they may have added something different to the powder. Companies are forever changing the ingredients without having to notify people except by changing the ingredient list on the box & for something like what you would be experiencing it could be as random as that. I once noticed a change in the colour of our powder & called the company in aussie to get it sorted out & yep there was more dye in that particular production & to most people it wouldn't have mattered but for my sensitive DS it could have caused havoc! Lucky I caught it b4 using it.
I use Persil sensitive for all of us now & we don't have trouble with that, although I've heard some people do. Maybe try some Ecostore powder....will just be a matter of finding what works for your skin

My bet is on something like hair products or body wash.
