I have been given a new (unused) pizza stone, minus any instructions, and would really appreciate any tips or suggestions you can send my way, please. I am a complete novice at using one of these so anything you can tell me will be helpful.
Thanks
Bridie

The first time you use it heat it up to allow any moisture to evaporate.

Scrap off dried bits. We use a bbq fish slice thing.

It will get stained/black but its fine.

Don't put water on it when its hot, it breaks! (that was learned by experience).

Have fun. We love ours. We use it for pizza and artisan bread and its great.

Stick it in the oven when you turn it on. It needs to be hot to stop sticking.

We use a little semolina under the pizza to stop the sticking, that way you don't have to have it hot (if you are like me and like to make it all on the pizza stone to stop mess)

Ours just stays in the oven all the time, I never take it out.
We make pizza, bread etc on baking paper and sit the baking paper on the pizza stone.

Thanks for all the tips guys, think I'll try the baking paper 1st before hunting for semolina in the supermarket. I have screeds of paper so that's ideal. If I go out buying semolina, I'll only end up cooking some and eating it!!!!!!!
