hey everyone, gee we werent expecting these big frights over how Christmas Break aye....
Dont know if anyone knows "law of attraction - the secret" - i dont know it says bout "focusing your energy on something, and you attract it" - and after these shocks this morning I thought wonder how many people had said yesterday (I didnt) "oh we havent had a big shake in a while, or mother nature is resting today" and so on. I know before I went to bed last nite I washed the dishes but left them to dry and thought "well if there is an earthquake my dishes are out" and also I got a new duvet inner for Christmas and I left that in the hallway and I thought "if there is an earthquake I will get over that easy" - WTF?!?

My mum went into hospital this mornign bout 4.30am with breathing problems - and fricken heck my sister & I were there seeing her this morning when the big 4.9 happened, it was soooooooooooooooo scary and this was on the ground floor. Mum on 2nd floor now, and I have said sorry I cant go in there, I am too scared - she should be home tomorrow. So terrifying.

Sorry that was a mega long post. Anyways hope you had a good Christmas. Keep safe...oh and I have filled water bottles and packed my bag!

So tonight on the News it said this could go on for months, its funny coz you really started to think it was over, even though in my mind i know its not, as the plates need more movement, but you still like to be wishful thinking ah.

Just heard a wee rumble a few minutes ago again, its very different sitting her in my office next to a window as i hear so much, and ears are very sensitive to the noise.

I feel so bad for all the people that have gone to work today, even though putting up more fencing, and those laying road cones out again, and those form the civil defence working again today and inspectors working today as well to access all the buildings in town. They do such a great job as well, and im rather pleased it didn't happened yesterday as it would have ruined Christmas.
So Cheers to all the hard workers out there cheer

Hoping for a good sleep tonight yawn

We went to Harvey Norman at Northwood, they had all of HN's city customers there, the shop was packed! There was 2 queues and both went at least half the length of the shop.

we went into town this morning and it was just so sad to see all the chaos again. More buildings cordoned off , traffic lights not working , heaps of retailers not able to keep their stores open. I feel so sorry for some of them , they have had a really tough year and were relying on sales to help keep them in business... sadly I think this might just be the icing on the cake for some of them sigh

did you hear that the EQ has said they will treat all claims from this quake as 'separate' to the last one as its not related.

Yea i did from the inlaws, so now people will have to pay out another $200 just for this aftershock if they have damage.

Though we haven't had anyone come from EQC yet, so won't make a difference to us.

The one at 12.10am this morning gave me a hell of a fright, i jumped and grabbed DP, girls didn't even wake, and it was a 4.4 just down the road from us near the hospital

I think it's more to do with the deadline TM and that we've already passed it so it would be unfair if people had got damage from yesterday's events but hadn't claimed for the initial EQ.

We're in the same position as you and EQC still haven't been round, we're in a suburb that's not received extensive damage so no urgency to come round... doesn't bother me so much when we keep getting these aftershocks.

It is really sad about the CBD frown I feel so sorry for all those businesses. It's been so quiet today after yesterday as well.

Have only heard one little one so far today, and we were out of town yesterday, so don't know if there were any.
Both girls heard the one this morning.

Hows everyone else going?
Hope the houses are ok
