SM - Can I reccomend Ignatia, it is another homeopathic remedy and I found it awesome recently when going through an intense grieving period with a lot of what if around it. It is for grief, but also for minds that linger and go over and over events. I found it miraculous in stopping that overthinking like that.

first day back at work for me today too. My kids were supposed to start a new preschool last week but obviously that didn't happen so they are starting tomorrow - I couldn't handle dropping them off at a new preschool and then having to go to work . As a result of DS2's stay in hospital he is really weary of strangers and cries when I leave the room so I'm not looking forward to taking him tomorrow - really bad timing but I can't change it sad

Seriously hoping for no AS today - I work a few floors up in the CBD - shocked and the building is designed to sway which my brain knows is safe but I think it will be bloody terrifying as the movement will be more noticable .

grouphug to everyone and here's hoping for a wonderfully boring day!

No I didn't see that SM. That's interesting as I definitely use the deep slow breathing to calm anxieties. I was told once by a psychotherapist that it is impossible to panic/have anxiety attacks if you keep your breathing slow and deep. Now this may not be true but PLEASE nobody tell me if it isn't true - after all, anxiety is a mind thing and if my mind believes it, it works. So now if I feel anxious about anything I just breathe deeply and I'm all good. Now I get to try smiling too - so if there is a quake in public I'm going to look like a loon with the frantic eyes, the smiling mouth and the deep breathing.

I am definitely over these aftershocks. They don't bother me mentally so much any more but my parents house seems to be really suffering from them. I'm feeling bad for them today as they have been planning this trip to America for a long time. Now they pretty much wish they were here and they have just found out that my Granma finally looks like she is really on her way out (they put off a long trip for years because she has been very poorly but now she has stopped eating). They cancelled their trip to Rarotonga last year when mums BFF got very ill and stayed with her until she died. bawling

Hugs to all those with kids at school/preschool etc today. Cass starts at her 'new' school on Wednesday.

Hope all those who have returned to work/school/preschool today are having a good day. We are back into it tomorrow - I don't work Monday's.

I hope preschool don't have an issue with the new words DS is using. With the AS this morning, he's been saying "sh!t; a bl00dy earthquake". Trying to get him to say "oh no; another earthquake" but it's not working oops

Those who came home yesterday I hope you night was OK.

Gillie I like his terms, just said the same thing with that one, DH took Connor to kinder for his afternoon session cause I am feeling really anxious and I would of just of been walking out as that one rolled in so hopefully the schools and kinders are looking after the boys.

My mums work has a registered child physiologist flown to Christchurch to see families of their company so we are going to see him/her at 9am tomorrow morning, they are designed for the whole family, so hopefully they have other ideas to help too.

Felicis I spoke to the naturopath the other day and I don't think I can take that (well they don't recommend it) in pregnancy frown so I have my rescue remedy and she has put in something else to try and help as well, the best thing is going to be these bloody AS stopping!!!

That made me laugh - good luck with trying to get him to change his language giggle
I dropped DS1 off at preschool this avo which I was very nervous about. Didn't help that when DS2 and I were walking home I felt another aftershock. I've never felt one outside before and it was horrible hearing the house I was walking past rattling afraid . I hotfooted it home and immediately phoned the preschool - all is fine thank goodness whewbig .
DH did a proper inspection of our home yesterday and has found that the eaves unsure (the thin horizontal plank of wood that is painted) outside our bedroom windows have come away from the wall frown . It doesn't need to be urgently repaired as it's not structural and the damage is pretty minor but we will be lodging a claim.

I was talking to some family in the weekend and this is something to ponder!!

When/if you lodge a claim with the EQC it will go on your lim report for your house, when you sell your home later it will/could have a negative effect on the value of your property. I was told that its better to try and not lodge a claim if its close to the excess because of this, which means that when people come to buy the property it will be like the house has stood well, compared to a small claim being lodged and it being a flag (because the details of the claim aren't lodged, just that one was done IYKWIM) but that is only for house, not contents.

Oh that is interesting SM. Definitely don't want anything listed on our LIM report. Will discuss it with DH as it may well be just as cheap getting in a tradesman rather than paying the excess on our insurance.

Yeah thats what I thought Chook, it will become a big thing having a clean LIM in christchurch I suspect with the earthquake now.

The same thing has happened in all earthquake areas.

Hey Hi.D, you feeling a little more relaxed today? giggle

Wish I could LOL Going away for a week definately has it's disadvantages. Hopefully I can atleast sleep tonight yes

DS1 and 2 had great days at school/preschool today. Much better being back to some normal routine I think. Was def good for DS1 to see that other kids were scared too and it was ok to be scared.

This may be old news but I only learnt it today. If you put the longitude and latitude of the aftershock from geonet into google maps (so copy and paste) it will show you the exact location on the map. It is cool.
