I've got a child with hypoplastic teeth too. We also live in a tank water area. Our dentist recommends using adult fluoride toothpaste, spitting but don't rinse, and when adult teeth come through getting a fluoride coating on. She says that fluoride tablets are useless for the reasons that G*A says.

I too have crap teeth, yet my brother who is 3 yearsbolder still does not have a filling yet admits to not brushing well or enough.

my dd (5 soon) saw a dentist in France who gave her such a quick look over and said everything was fine but I don't belief her, so am going to book her into someone here. She already has a wicked overbite (like me) from sucking her thumb.

I was told by a very good dentist in Wgtn that some peoples saliva is way more acidic than others and that is a huge factor in holes in your teeth.

I am loving that 'what's in our' but missed the toothpaste and mouthwash one....

I have the LOVELIEST dental nurse-she kind of gives the lecture a little bit..but then not really - i go in armed with the i have the most terrible teeth, and lots of Questions about alternative toothpastes/washes etc. DS#1 has perfect sparkly pearlers so i guess that helps them think that perhaps its not my fault lol (given that oldest child is ok lol). DS#2 is a bit less fortunate, his front teeth have had a flouride enamel put on them because the enamel was week, and they are 'realllly' close together (apparently) and a wee hole was starting to form. i had terrible mothers guilt but she was REALLLY good about it, and explained how it happens sometimes, it can be diet/hygiene related but there are looots of other factors too, antibiotics being a biggie, position of teeth, prem born, etc
liam vommitts almost every time he brushes his teeth ( he has these weird sensitivity things..and the tongue/mouth seems to be a biggie for him) so pretty much his teeth issues have bn put down to that AND the fact he was on antibiotics A LOT from 6m-3yrs old due to a really bad run with ears.
yes i would go in with her.
oh and funny i notice all dental nurse always ask the kids what their favourite foods are - talk about the worst way to make a mum feel bad, i remember cade saying he like candy floss and chocolate and ice-cream - i think he thought she was going to give him one - annoying bcos its all food he almost never gets.
thangod my #2 saved grace a bit bcos he piped up with watermelon and carrotts whew lol
