Hi all
Just touching base with you all. I just got a BFP so I guess my weight loss plan is going to have to go on hold for the next 9 months! I reckon it was the 8kg I managed to lose over the last few weeks and reducing stress etc but I have been wanting and trying to get preggers for about 2 years. I might still hang around if thats OK with you all, I am still going to try and have the pregnancy make as little difference to my weight as possible. I know that being the weight I am I'm in the at risk category for things like gestational diabetes etc.

So any advice on diet etc, let me know!

oooh, I can help with this Phish (oooh, mad stalker alert!) I managed to put on well under 10kg in my whole pregnancy 40+10 days). I had little nausea, so didn't have spewing to help wink And I never had any cravings, though went of chocolate (oh I wish that could happen again!).

Anyway, I found it MUCH easier to eat healthily when I considered the impact of my diet on bubba. I did NOT want pregoo diabetes, and ate very mindful of that - the best thing for me and baby was to not get it. So I would have something to eat straight away, even an up and go, so that i had something to level me out in the morning. If you have nausea in the morning, keep some dry crackers or similar next to the bed and eat them without moving as much as you can. Breakfast for me was usually toast as easiest for me getting to school early.

I had to eat regularly - if I got hungry it came on super fast, so I had to eat or THEN I would feel sick.

I found having a scone available for morning tea was the best thing ever, They are relatively low in everything, but fill you up and stop any nausea. Great morning tea. Better thanmuffins which are comparatively high in fats, calories, sugars etc.

Lunch - get in some fruit and vege and protein, along with a carb. Salad and a small tin of fish (you have to be careful with cold meat you see!), or leftovers that can be heated if you have access. Salad though needs to be freshly washed - the water on salad is what harbours the bad bacteria, which is why they say no subway.

Have something for afternoon tea as well - even another scone if you need it, again it does the job of keeping you going.

Dinner - go for veges, meat, and small carb if you need it, like potato or similar. there are lots to be wary of - deli meats, no go. Rice harboursloads of issues if not cooked fresh - which is why sushi is out. Pretty much the only takeaway I would have was fish and chips!

So stoked for you, loads of sticky vibes!!!

Congrats Phish!!!

When I had gestational diabetes with DS the diabetes clinic put me on a low GI diet. Basically 5 small low GI meals a day... things like porridge, burgen bread/toast etc. I'll look for the chart tomorrow if I get the time. How many weeks are you?

I have been diagnosed with pcos. The blood tests that I did 3 months ago came up normal for the hormone levels and for my annual diabetes check but the ultrasound at the hospital was interesting. Basically, my left ovary has wandered away so is much further left than it should be (making it too difficult for them to get a clear view of it). Both ovaries are larger than normal with lots of follicles but no apparent cysts so we went home from the scan with a bit of a question mark over it but my gyno specialist wrote a report for my GP and said yes, pcos confirmed.

So, i'm now on metformin. Talk about hard drugs! You start on a low dose for a week then go up to the normal dose but so far I've had nausea, headaches, cramping... it's pretty full on. On the plus side, I no longer crave sugar or meat and am eating much less of both those things. I'm not eating enough vegetables but hey, it doesn't happen overnight!

Bonuses of metformin... reduces weight, increases chance of pregnancy, reduces acne (so THAT explains why I still get heaps of huge pimples!), can help dandruff (thank goodness), reduces miscarriage risk etc etc. It sounds like a wonder pill... just have to get through the first few weeks of side effects!

Nice to see you back here felicis! (even if it is just a fleeting visit)

IP I am 6 weeks. Yes, my Dr too was talking abut a low GI diet. I want to make sure I am eating as best as I can be.
I feel like I have spent the last 4 days freaking out. I keep reading about all the
things you are not supposed to eat etc and I keep thinking well I ate that when I didnt know i was pregnant a few weeks ago!!
I guess I just have to try and relax. easier said than done, thats for sure!

Remeber that baby only starts sharing your blood from around 6 weeks, once all the sac etc are connected, so you have done no damage. It is very normal to worry about this sort of stuff, but you don't need to worry about what has gone, just what is to come, lol.

IP, that is great tthat you have an answer to things,I hope that the meds settle down for you soon and it works its magic awww

I feel a lot more relaxed this evening, think things are starting to sink in and I went shopping and got all prepared with lots of healthy options for the week.

Hello all,
Just posting the haps of my first week on xenical -
Days 1 - 2, Fat intake under 45 grams total. Water intake on the up. No "bad experiences" infact, a great clean out if those are the words I can modestly describe...
Day 3, I wanted to experiment slightly to see if the bad experiences are what they're cracked out to be... Kept the fat intake under 45, water intake increased to 4x 750ml pump bottles - then at night I pigged out on some chocolate...
Day 4, fat intake under 45, water intake great, fruit goals reached (to eat 3 pieces). Then I experience "it" - scale of 1 to 10, "7", it wasnt too bad cos I did eat under the threshold however never gona do that again cos now I know they work wink
Im now ending my Day 8, and I haven't weighed myself yet, however the skirt I wear for my uniform is slightly loose so thats a good sign.
Will post again when I've done a weigh in smile
how is everyone else doing? Can't wait to read more posts. Keep it up! smile

I actually didn't gain any weight whilst preggy, so about 2 weeks after birth I was 13 kgs lighter grin (unfortunately I also gained it and more back over the following 4 years sigh ). Not sure how I didn't manage to gain really because I didn't have major morning sickness or anything like that.

I ate a lot of fresh fruit, and cut out all the crap from my diet except for chocolate and 1 can of fanta a day. But I was careful about what I ate, paranoid about the right foods etc rolleyes and I found if I snacked more often then I didn't feel sick. I also found I filled up a lot quicker so weren't really eating big meals.

agree It was on my mind a lot too, plus mum (already has diabetes) was in my ear about it the entire time sigh

frown on the PCOS diagnosis IP. Hope the side effects of the drugs settle down for you soon.

I've had a bumpy month. No weight loss and tbh my eating has been crap. We had a girls weekend away last weekend and we ate so much crap that I still feel sick Good thing is I'm craving salads/fruit smile So am back into it this week, counting points etc. Chocolate is still my downfall frown

Hi all
I notice it has been a bit quiet on here lately, where have you all gone?
So far I am 8ish weeks preggers and have gained 200g. I'm OK with that, but the weirdest thing is that it makes you feel hungry all the time!! But luckily with the nausea I dont really feel like eating that much anyway.

I hope you guys dont mind me hinging around here?

I'm still around. Just not really doing much! I've ordered a corset and getting another for my birthday so I'm really looking forward to getting those. Otherwise same old. How are things with you?

Im always lurking in here since joining.....have lost 5lbs so far...I think thats around 3kg lol.

IP....the diagnosis on PCOS was a huge relief to me. Didnt get put on metformin or anything though. I have painful bursting cysts etc. Took a few years to get someone to listen to me and it was like a huge weight had been lifted when someone did and found out what was wrong with me smile

Heres a site that might be helpful to you http://wellroundedmama.blogspot.com/ laugh

I'm here, sort of on the wagon. Have a big exam on Friday morning so have been studying hard and stressing heaps about that, plus AF due yesterday, so my eating plan has completely gone off track. Am hoping AF arrives today, so I can have 1 day to deal before my exam, knowing my luck the bitch will arrive Friday morning sigh

My AF has vanished again. Have been getting it on alternate months since my last miscarriage but now it's just not showing up. Saves money on products I guess!
