Thanks for this interesting thread! I have 2 with Asthma and the youngest (18 months) being the worst. He has had 3 courses of Antibiotics and Redipred in 3.5 months and STILL is wheezing and has a cough. We are trialling him on a month of Histafen along with his ventolin and Flixotide also, so fingersx

I think we will be back to the Dr again soon so will ask about the Singulair.

Hi,

I was on Singulair when I lived in the UK in addition to Sybicort and for the first time in many years I had great asthma management.

Unfortunately, upon returning I discovered that Singulair wasn't funded so I stopped taking it once my supplies ran out.

I have managed quite well in the last five years but this year has been terrible. I suspect it is due to us moving to a home which has loads of tree's and near the water so a pretty steady breeze spreading the pollen around but who knows.

I have loads of allergies though and the longest stint of being semi well has been 4 weeks this year.

Soo, I am looking to pay for non-funded singulair.

My question is, do I just get a prescription and go to my local chemist to get it?

I am based on the North Shore, Auckland.

Cheers
Megan

Yes, just need a prescription. Costs $108 for 28 tables.
Totally worth if it works for you. DS1 has been good too since he started on it almost 3 weeks ago.

An update from me.

DS1 been on Singular for 1.5 months and there has been no incidence of asthma at all!!! He has been riding his bike in the wind and cold - no coughing, nothing yahoo

It was originally prescribed by my GP. We saw the specialist last week and he is getting us the free 3 month trial. I dont know what the criteria is, but we qualify.

But even if I had to pay the full price to get it, I totally would!
