We finally have a referral for a ped after doc tried to tell us it was more behavioural than reflux!! Just wondering if anyone has any tips for night sleeping
we use a dummy, cot is raised, she is still swaddled ( otherwise won't sleep) room is about 16 degrees as she sweats if too hot, using infacol at most feeds which works sometimes.
Looking at getting a hammock as she loves motion!!

I tend to feed her alot as that soothes her back to sleep but wondering if this is making reflux and wind worse? Any tips to get us through the next two weeks till we see ped would be much appreciated smile

Im currently having the same problem. Ive just been to the chemist and bought some proboitis in hope it will help with his sleeping. Is your ds on medication for reflux? My dd is and Ive just lowered the dose to see if it would help with the wind issues but it hasnt. Every night he ends up in bed with as I get to tired getting up all the time to him. Best of luck and sorry I cant offer any tips.

Have you ladies got a lazy boy, we spent many a night sleeping on this , as she was propped up, not ideal but you do what you gotta do, hugs to you lack of sleep or no sleep is no fun at all.

She is on 5mg losec and we started probiotic a week ago but no change. It used to work bringing her in bed with us but not anymore frown I have a feeding chair but no lazyboy - may have to look into one if the hammock doesn't work as am having about 2 hrs sleep a night if I'm lucky! Thanks for the tips though!

Lots of feeding could be part of the problem as she's always got lots to wash up and down.

Are you holding her upright for a good 30 mins post feed? That made a difference to my boys.

We took shifts on the couch holding the baby when needed. It's hellish but you just have to do what you have to do.

Best of luck with the paed - and surviving until then!

I hear what your saying about only getting two hours asleep a night. It will get better. It definatly sounds like she needs to be on a stronger dose of losec. Its good that your going to see a paed as they will beable to precribe a higher dose. I think untill then you might just need to keep doing what your doing. Are you also offering gaviscon at each feed? That might help. Also are you breast feeding or is she formula fed as 1/3 of reflux babies have milk allergy/intolerance. By my two have this and really made sleep times alot harder. Your could try going dairy free to see if this helps.

I need to get a lazzy boy also I think.I spend most of time sitting up in bed and rocking.

We tried a hammock for DD, but she hated it! I think she wasn't comfortable being "folded" up. We had a bit more success with a swing.

DD was much more comfortable sleeping on her tummy (just don't tell Plunket though...)

Thanks everyone - yeah she is breastfed and I have been dairy free for two weeks which has helped skin but not sleeping - now trying to cut out all acidic food but it is so hard!! I used to put her over my shoulder after a fed when she was little as she loved sleeping like that but is no wide awake when I do this. Might try sitting in the feeding chair with her for a bit and see if that helps smile
thanks for the tips everything new that we try always gives me a glimmer of hope and helps me keep going after 10 weeks of no sleep!! Though she did sleep 11 hrs in a row last Tuesday after her 5 month jabs but that was a once off unfortunately!!

I use a swing for flynn during the day....that way Ican still attend to my daughter and have some time out. Its been a god send. He only has short cat naps in it but its better than none at all. I got it off trade me for $20 for my first refluxer but she didnt like being in it. My first refluxer also slept well after her jabs. I have flynns 5mnths jabs coming up next month and Im not looking forward to it as he reacted really badly for his three mnths ones.

Food wise when I was breast feeding the pead told me to cut out chocolate, green apples, tomatoes , bananas, avacardos, red wine , potatoes. It is really hard I know. It can also take a good three weeks to see any improvement with being dairy free and being on losec. Keeps us updated on how your getting on. It nice to know there are others out there going through the same thing.

Hang in there.

Thanks smile she has been on the losec for nearly a month but dairy free needs to be a bit longer ! If only there was some improvement it would be a bit easier to stay positive.
Is even more frusrating that she was amazing sleeper for first 3 months so know she can do it!!

Will keep you posted with any progress smile
