I hope someone can help me, im from the UK but have had probs trying to find support and help and came across this place that looks like there are lots of supportive people out there.

My daughter suffered from reflux when she was little, she was prescibed gaviscon powder for her milk that did the trick and she outgrew it by about 6 months.

(now aged 4 and half) At the begining of this year she was complaing of stomach pains and when we questioned it she told us they were high up in her chest. This went on for a few weeks so took her to the Drs who prescribed her gaviscon cool, she refused to take it and after lots of trips to the drs to try other medicine she was referred to the hospital to check it wasnt anything to do with her heart. (have heart probs in my family) 2 months ago she had an ultrasound so check her heart and everything was ok.

The dr there said that because she wouldnt take any medicine there was nothing they could do for her and discharged her. The pains carried on ( atleast once a day and during the night) so the dr prescribed her Zantac in a tablet form which she took. After 3 weeks of this we noticed no difference so went back and was prescribed some other medicine which again she refused to take so the Dr told me to give her 1x 75mg tablet twice a day and that she would refer her back to the hospital. Even on the adult dose of zantac weve noticed no difference.

She can have anywhere from 1-6/7 pains in the day and wakes sometimes during the night. She has a cough and can be a bit crackly at times (especially during the night) her bed is raised at the head end. She will see the same Dr at the hospital she saw last time and want to go prepared but scared hes going to say the same again

Is there anything else i can do to help her?

Sorry to hear your poor wee lass is in pain. I cant help Im afraid but wanted to say I think yourve done everything you can and now you just need to wait to see what the dr at the hosptital says. Let us know how you get on.

Hopefully with the zantac not working for her Dr may try another medication

Also which you have probally done already is to cut out acidy foods,with our Kids we also reduced banana,pumpkin,caggage,cauliflower etc and dairy not altogther but if say they had cereal for breafast no ice cream at tea time etc

Sorry I'm no help, just wanted to welcome you and hope that you see some progress soon!

It does sound like reflux. My almost 3 year complained of a similar thing not too long ago. She has been off losec since just over 1 year. I wonder if another reflux med might be worth trying? Have you tried omeprazole? It is in a capsule or you can open the capsule and give her the granules in something else (this is usually pureed pear for littlies). Best of luck.

in the uk you can get omeprazole losec mups tablets you dissolve in water on a teaspoon and then you can put in in youghut.
