Thanks guys.

The op has been rescheduled for 8th Sept. I am guessing that she will not be back at school this term. Now, what to do for 4 days in hospital? Assuming I am allowed to do anything by the patient other than be her special cuddle buddy LOL.

What to do in the hosp? You need something to distract you during the op and for that day/night when they are dopey and just sleeping.

Otherwise you need things you can pick up and put down quickly as needed as docs, nurses, visitors, child demands interrupt everything.

I took my cross stitch and a book, and the kids' school work for marking! Being a private hospital you can look at what's on tv and plan some distracting viewing too - but once she's feeling better - if she's anything like my boys it'll be Cartoon Network all the way! I did use that to get what we needed with N - if he didn't drink x amount in y time then the cartoons were turned off until he did. Worked well and the surgeon commented he'd remember that for other kids!
