Can fully recommend Michelle Vincent - she & Rachael back each other up though am unsure what experience with IVF pregnancies she has had - though am unsure what the difference between birthing an IVF baby from a non IVF baby would be - or is it all more for peace of mind during pregnancy?? (Genuine question smile

Basically have the option of midwife only - she sees you all the way through pregnancy then is with you all during labour and then 4 weeks after baby is born.

OB only - sees you for all appts in pregnancy and then visits during labour with hospital mw's looking after you full time and then is there for your delivery.

OB + own midwife - same as above but own mw is with you during labour instead of hospital MW. (Obs are very picky about which midwives they work with and tend to have their set ones!)

Midwife only is free, OB is $3-4000 roughly.

I am a nurse and was more than happy to have a midwife only (Michelle came very highly recommended) as if there had been any problems then would have been referred straight to hospital specialists.

Ultimately is up to you which route you choose. Get recommendations from others but be aware that private obs and midwives get booked up very quickly!!

Good luck

I have used birth options midwifery...there are 5 ladies in the group and their pager number is 026 111 575. I had an IVF with no 1 and used Megan - she was fantastic so we are using her with no 2 as well. They operate from Tawa to Pukerua Bay and bascially will do whatever you want in terms of birth plan. highly recommend.
