I'm interested in talking to women who have had both their ovaries removed, say before age 45, and therefore been put instantly into menopause.
I need to do this in the next couple of years (I'm 36) and just curious as to how it was for you/how it is for you now.
TIA.

Nightsky I had a hysterectomy at 36 but kept my ovaries.
At 42 just starting to go through peri menopausal symptoms.
As this forum seems to have very little discussion going I can recommend www.hystersisters.com to have a look at too.

So Friday I had my ovaries and fallopian tubes removed. take all my womanly bits, take them!!!
I am 37 and high risk for ovarian cancer, so now my risk is very low and I hope I break the cycle, and I can be here for my daughter a VERY long time!!!!

I am on day 6. Have had no hot flushes yet.
Been feeling a bit crappy, but that's probably just normal post-surgery stuff.
I feel a bit more energised today and a bit more like myself cheer

My BF had both removed at 34. 56 now and just going through menopause. Chose not to have HRT and has gone down the naturopathic route. No real issues to speak of at all !

Looks like I am heading down the road of having my last ovary removed in June. The last one has 2 functioning cysts on it which are growing in size about 1.5cms every 2 months. They are getting bigger and they are now leaking which is causing me a whole heap of pain.

Dr talking about HRT as well as I am only 38.

How did it go for you NightSky?

Hey KC, sorry to hear that news :-(

I am 38 years old also.

I am doing really well, I am not on HRT (have had breast cancer already so is too dangerous for me to take).

The only thing I take is Black cohosh and this reduces some of my hot flushes (which aren't that bad anyway), also has reduced the frequency of migraines because after my surgery I started to get more and some very severe ones. It's helped reduce the frequency a LOT. like every 2 weeks, to about one every 10 weeks.

And also I think it helps me to be a bit less grumpy!!

so, I haven't had too many bad side effects.

I do think I have a shorter temper than i used to, and my memory seems terrible, but that was always the case.
my sex drive has definitely decreased, but is still there.

feel free to pm me, if you need

love2
