Hi ladies,

I saw another poll on here (sorry copying your idea!) and thought it would be interesting to see on average how many cycles/transfers it takes to get a BFP smile Thanks in advance!

We had 3 full IVF cycles, uncountable FET's and Bobby and Charlotte were our 17th and 18th embryos that were transferred.

All the other embies before that had resulted in BFN's or chemicals plus many more didn't make it to transfer.

NGladys, you are a total legend. I know it's early days, but I am just busting to hear about your scan when you find out it's twins!!!! I normally don't wish twins on anyone because of health risks and exhaustion, etc, but at our age I actually think two in one go is a sensible thing to hope for. smile So happy for you!!!

We did our 1st cycle of IVF/ICSI in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Our cycle produced 8 usable fresh, 3 embryos transferred (standard policy there). Now am 23 weeks preg with non-identical twin girls.
If all goes well (touch wood), we plan to try again when twins are 9-12 months old.

1 ICSI cycle. 5 day 3 embryos

#1 - 2 day 3 embryos = dd1
#2 - 1 day 3 embryo thawed = dd2
#3 - 2 day 3 embryos thawed (1 didn't survive) = dd3

We have been so incredibly lucky to get 3 babies from one cycle. Out of 5 embryos we have had/having 3 sucessful pregnancies. FG at FAA was very doom and gloom about this last one and said he had never heard of anyone getting 3 pregnancies from one cycle.

Ha ha ha with FG's middle name being Doom and Gloom.
I had him as a specialist and at my week 7 scan we saw a heartbeat and we were so excited and all we got from FG is " I am optimistic this pregnancy might go to term"

We then transferred to SK as obs who had a completely different nature. He commented that FG's comment is about as positive as he gets. ha ha ha

Congrats Chatabox....

As for us...
We have done 6 IVFs and transferred 12 fresh embryos (two at each transfer), no frozens. All except the first cycle were day 2 transfers. We got three pregnancies resulting in 1 ectopic and 2 miscarriages, all singletons.

Put ourselves on the egg donor list but decided to try one last time with our own eggs...and just as we were waiting for AF to turn up to start drugs for IVF...we have a natural conception....wow, never before had this happened!

Chatabox, LOL about SK's comment! Isn't he just a lovely chap? Optimistic without being unrealistic.

Milo, I wasn't going to chime in with our dismal history because I was ttc over 40 with high FSH so it's no indication really of what others should reasonably expect. But just to keep you company ... smile

We did 7 IVFs, 2 cancelled for nil or one-follie response, 5 made it to EC and beyond, a total of 13 fresh embryos transferred (4 in the final and successful IVF), plus 4-5 natural pgs in between that all ended in tears (usually mercifully early).

We ended up with fraternal twins from our 7th cycle, after 2 years of IVFing around, when 2 of the 4 embies stuck (and actually a 3rd one was a blighted ovum), at age 42.3. They were born about a month before I turned 43.

Gosh you guys are troopers! Milo I remember you from the IF boards and I was so thrilled to read about your good news a few weeks ago, how amazing. And you too Anita P. It's a funny old life isn't it.

I felt I got off relatively lightly in the end. I was 39 with very low AMH due to chemotherapy treatment. Did one round of IVF which was canclled due to no response to drugs. Then did a clomiphene IVF cycle - 2 eggs, 1 embie tranfered BFN. Did the second clomiphene cycle and got 3 eggs, 2 embies and BFP x 1. I was going to cancel the second cycle but didn't in the end, quite pleased about that! Baby due next week.
