I am slapping myself at the moment, GF for 2 weeks are we were actually NOTICING an improvement in the amount of times Ella was refluxing - that was until she was accidentally given ham that had a stabilizer containg Gluten in it and she is back to as bad as ever.

Does anyone know with these whoopsies how long it takes to recover? Will it take only a few days because it was a wittle amount or will it be more like a few weeks?! DOH!

Meg

Sorry to hear of your setback.

If Caitlin accidently has something she shouldn't (which happens on the odd ocassion) we have 4 days of one miserable girl, but by the end of the 4th day we are 99% back on track.

Hope things settle again for you quickly.

It good to hear though that you think GF was starting to make a difference

Dont beat yourself up over what has happened......its so hard sometimes to know where the hidden glutens are.

Take care

We are the same 3-4 days before it's out of his system again.

Fingers crossed that such a small amount might go even quicker.

Gosh that is soooooo annoying isnt it!!We have only had one hi-cup and that was when James found his favourite cereal in the back of the pantry and kindly decided one saturday morning to make his own breakfast(bless him)Gosh he was instantly coughing and refluxing and felt terrible. For him at his age it was a really good learning tool!! as now he knows what THAT FEELING is and now I refer back to THAT FEELING if he he wants things with gluten in just by explaining how awful it will make him feel and at 4 3/4yrs old he is very aware of not wanting to feel like that so it must make him feel pretty shitty to turn down food. But it took a good few days for the symtoms and irritablatly to wear off.
Good Luck and dont beat yourself up over it you are doing a wonderful job.

We have frequent accidents with gluten - well we can go months sometimes but others it seems like weekly. For me personally it takes a couple of days. For Gem it is probably about the same with a gradual improvement soon after. At one point Gem was getting terrible thrush if she had gluten, so I also had to use a probiotic and canestan for a few days to help it settle down. She doesn't seem to get this so much now, but I think that is because she doesn't wet every night anymore.
