im wanting to kick start my weight loss with a detox. Has anyone had a go at the lemon detox ?? was it good or bad.

There was a quite bad press recently on Campbell Live for Lemon detox diet.
It is basically a drink of sugar & lemon juice.. no more.

google for some reviews, but basically your starving your body, and yes the weight comes off. but you can get very sick very quickly

Don't do it! The whole diet in general doesnt make any sense. Think about it? Water, lemon juice and mapel syrip for a week or whatever can't be healthy. It's dangerous and shouldn't be on the market in my opinion. Plus I was reading some stuff the other day and the original creator of the lemon detox diet actually went to prison for killing a patient. If you do end up trying it though I would love to get an update on how it worked out for you?

Can't comment on the above but Aussie dietitians rate it the worst of the fad diets.

I have looked into this and I dont see this as a diet - it supposed to be used a detox system. On their website they have a relaxed version were you subsitute breakfast & dinner with the detox drink and at lunch have a healthy meal - they have provided and outline for lunch meals for the week.

I actually wouldnt mind giving it a go to be honest, have heard some good things from people who have tried it.

But it is promoted as a weightloss tool, you see, and evidence shows that detoxes are not only not necessary but actually have no benefit either.

Besides which, it is a lot of money for somethiing you could DIY if that desperate.

Don't do it - there was a programme on in Aus when we lived there a couple of years ago where they got scientists/health professionals to check out the health of 6-8 people, then they got half of them to do the lemon detox diet, then they re-tested.

The ones who did the lemon detox has significantly worse results afterwards in terms of their liver function - the health professionals were quite worried and they said at the time that whilst you might lose weight and maybe feel better (psychological effect of losing some weight maybe?), you may well also be doing irrepairable, long-term damage to your liver.

To be fair it was a very small sample group on the programme but the fact that their livers were fine beforehand and not fine afterwards was all the info I needed!
