We have now been on Motilium for a week and I must say.......it's working for us!!!
Gaviscon & losec definately have their place as they help Caitlin heaps, and we are still using them, but Caitlin still refluxes 24/7 with these meds......but now with the motilium added to our drug cocktail we hardly hear any refluxing at all!!

We are currently taking 1/2 tablet twice daily but am wondering if we may contact the paed to see about taking it 3 times a day (as we get pretty grouchy mid to late afternoon when the 2nd dose is due).

We thought the first 2 days that Motilium may have been the answer to Caitlins constipation problems as well as we were having 2 dirty nappies a day.......but no.....now back to an increased dose of laxatives to get the wee bowels moving.

But we cant expect 1 drug to cure everything!

I feel we can say that the relux monster is finally giving us a break after a very l o n g 13 months, all thanks to the 'wonder drug' Motilium!!!

Long may the Motilium magic last

Excellent! And long may it last (could almost be the catch cry of the reflux parent LOL).

I had a quick chat to Katey's GP on Thursday about Motilium and she was under the impression that it didn't help reflux and was only of use if there was a problem at the other end and they have to do a barium swallow and follow it right through before prescribing it. Not what I have heard of course, will see what the specialist has to say. Although currently we are going through a good patch ...

Hey Vivianne

We had the Motilium prescribed by Dr Ford, and have had no barium swallow done. He prescribed it on the basis of our conversation regarding how Caitlin feeds etc.
He said it was prescribed to help 'speed up' the food going through the system, so was not sitting in the tummy making them uncomfortable. He said the only problem we may have is if Caitlins constipation was too bad then the motilium could give her a sore tummy.......vicky lee has had experience with this.
I have noticed that she now drinks her bedtime bottle in about 15 mins flat compared to over an hour before the Motilium was introduced!!!

Hope the good patch lasts for you.

Yes we find Motilium great too for reflux infact on losec & dietry changes he was still refluxing at night but on Motilium there is no night waking and refluxing at all(YAHHHHHHHH)Finally getting full night sleeps . We have been reducing losec too with no adverse effects!!!Although have just reduced another 10mg today for the month of June so long may the motilium hold the reflux!!!and get the muscles working the way they should and what with our dietry changes too life is wonderful here too after 4 3/4yrs of a grumpie child(and Mum!!)
Mariya
PS We are only on Motilium for a 3 month course (just to get all valves and muscles working correctly) I will dread having to stop it!!

GREAT!
Motilium also increases the tone of the sphincter at the top of the stomach.

Doesnt reflux change from one day to the next. Yesterday life was wonderful today it is not!!!!2 days after reducing losec he stinks of acid and is refluxing again(can hear it coming up) and is in a terrible mood and nothing I can do is right!!So may have to only try reducing by 5mg and see how we go. Pead said when kids are on the higher doeses of losec excess of 40mg per day going from 40 to 30 to 20 you dont always notice changes it going down from there!!Not in our boy. Oh the joys of reflux!!!!I can see now I am in for a bad night oh I should be positive thinking. He is going to sleep like a baby(oh a non reflux one!!)

Hi Mummy Mia
You may get a rebound like this for up to a week. If it persists beyond that, then he still needs the higher dose of Losec most likely. Have you got some Gaviscon to give in the meantime.
Hoping you have some sleep!
