Anyone else using Neocate that can help? We have just started Neocate yesterday on advise of our Paed. How long does it take to show improvement? Is anyone using Gaviscon with it?

I cant remember the exact length of time to see an improvement but from memory it was about 3 weeks to get the full effect of it, although differences were noticed before then. Yes, we are still using gaviscon and mix it into the neocate bottles.

Thanks for that, and also on Losec? I'm just so nervous to try anything new in case it makes things worse if that's poss!

We are also taking Losec twice a day, gaviscon in bottles and as of last week motillium twice a day as well!

I can relate to how you are feeling regarding starting the Neocate, as we felt the same way here (had to stop breast feeding to start the neocate), but looking back, we should have done it alot sooner!

Life was sooooooooo much better

Good luck and please keep us posted

Hi Leanne
How is Caitlin going with the motilium?? It wasn't until we started using a motility drug that the reflux became manageable. When we tried restarting again later but it later it did not help as we had serious constipation issues and the motilium just made things worse (trying empty the stomach but it had no where to go if you know what I mean ).

Hi, Chloe has been on Neocate since beginning of May and it really did take a good 3-4 weeks to see an improvement. It was very frustrating not seeing much of an improvement in the first couple of weeks as I too had to give up breastfeeding and Chloe just hated taking the bottle. It was hard to not breastfeed her to try and comfort her to some extent. She is also on 15mg of losec.

I would hope that you at least saw an improvement in one week because that is our guidelines for trying a non-dairy formula! I guess it depends like anything else that affects reflux, how much damage there is in the oesophagus to heal.
Good luck.

Hi all, thanks for the advice. I am pleased to say that day 3 was a huge improvement. Finally feed like a trouper, heaps less windy, and was a million times happier... but I'm too scared to get excited yet as we've had this cycle so many times before. Fingers crossed that it is the Neocate kicking in.
