I have been diagnosed with gestational DM in the last week....luckily i'm far on in this preg and baby being delivered by caesarian next week.

I've been given a freestyle lite monitor by the diabetic nurse, along with one lancet which is in the tester, and a tube of testing strips! Im testing before and after meals, so x6 per day; I assumed as i'll be testing just for a few days that the one lancet should do! BUT how often do you change/should i change???? Wonder if I should get some more?? She didn't mention about chnaging the lancet!!

Thanks smile

Some say you should change every prick, some change once a day or week, and some whenever daylight savings changes occur wink It was suggested at clinic that we change the lancet whenever we opened a new lots of strips, so thats at least every 50 tests.

Lancets aren't subsidised, but they aren't expensive either. I think you can buy a packet of 10 from the pharmacy?

If you have trouble getting blood then I would change the lancet. We use the Multiclix and I just roll it on whenever I feel the old one has been used enough.

I am still using the old pricker i had when i was using the old Accu - Check Advantage meter, as i had a large supply of individual lancets.

Seeing that one lancet lasts me quite some time i will not be using my Multclix cartridge stabber for at least another year.

We change Gabriels, either every time I have to turn it up to 3 to get any blood out, or when I remember or when he starts to complain it hurts.

Just kind of what ever works for you.
Myself if it's only going to be a week or so then I'd just go with the 1 lancet.
