how do you do it?

my ex still owes me for last years school fees - AND this years. its only about $70 all up but its still a lot when we are stretched thin on a budget, yanno?

i have taken him to every drs appt he's ever had in his life. now that he's older than 5 it costs me almost $30 a time.. and we've been covering that too, but again.. budgeting and whatnot. we're trying to pay off all our debts as fast as possible and we're stretched pretty thin at the moment.

i'm getting M reassessed in a few weeks - the ex and i have talked about this in the past - its in the hundreds of dollars range. we've forked out over a grand in the last year for paed appts alone - some of which the ex has come to, but he hasn't paid a dime for them.

i also pay for swimming lessons which the ex takes him to every second week... AND he uses the togs that I bought, and the goggles... because apparently he can't buy his own.

we are getting to the point where we are running out of money and it would be nice to have some help, yanno? he has M half the time (so we get no child support - its offset) and i am pretty sure that he is legally required to cover half things like medical expenses? how do you go about getting it out of them? i am pretty sure if i show him the bills and ask nicely if he will pay he will fob me off with some excuse and/or the bill will go 'missing' and we will never see it again (thats what happened with last years school fees receipt). do we have to go through the court? because in THAT case we have to pay lawyers fees, and its probably not worth it.... which irks the hell out of me. why should we have to pay everything, and he get off scot free?

Can you not get your lawyer to send his a letter reminding him that as you have shared custody you are required to split bills such as this, he currently owes you x amount. If that isn't enough, could they not include a suggestion that custody could be reviewed if he doesn't meet his share of obligations?
