We have just got Caitlins reflux back under control from having a vomiting tummy bug at the end of May and now the wee munchkin has the worst cold and cough she has ever had. Had both her and big brother at the doctor yesterday, and Alex has a severe chest infection and now on antibiotics, but Cailtin although coughing really bad,had no signs of infection (which is good) but today........the cough is so bad that every time she coughs she empties her wee tummy No losec or Motillium staying down so reflux is fast heading out of control again.
I feel sorry for her looking so miserable and not sleeping at all. Think we may have another trip to the doctor tomorrow.
Using Pamol and Dimetapp when it stays down. Guess its just going to take time to get all the meds working again.

hope all your little bundles are happy and healthy.

Oh you poor thing!

It's just horrible when they are sick isn't it!

Have you tried a vaporiser in their room when they have a cold? We brought one a few weeks ago when Liffy had Croup and it's just wonderful.

Good luck, hope it doesn't last long.

Hugs

Niki

I'd second the vaporiser idea. I've used one for Catherine when she has a cold and seems to help with the cough (just using steam). Haven't tried for conjestion yet.

We dont have a vaporiser, but may be worth investing in one. We have put a Karvol cap in a tissue and put in her cot (well out of reach) and she also has a little baby balsam chest rub on. Caitlins sleeping at the moment although already been in once to her screaming......definately getting ears etc checked again tomorrow.

Thanks for your suggestions

Hi there
Just a thought does Dimetapp have gluten in it(If I am remembering correctly Catlin is Gluten Intollerant??) I had a big discussion about cough meds with my pharmisist and she said one of the few that is gluten free is Duro-Tuss, may pay to check that out. I also use those Karvol caps and good old vicks vapour rub!!Hope she gets better soon she has had a stink few weeks.

Just as another option to the duro-tuss, I've been using the infant demazin - its a clear syrup and its gluten and lactose free.

The twins are only just over their colds - GOD its a NIGHTMARE isn't it. Thankfully Ben is the hardiest little soul you could find. He gets sick, but nothing bothers him unless he's really really unwell. I put it down to being in such pain for the first few months of life, he's developed a high discomfort threshold.

Well, mummy has a runny nose. Best of luck Leanne - COLDS SUCK!

Just an update.......we are all surviving!!! Had Caitlin to the dr today and have been prescribed antibiotics (but not certain they are Gluten Free). Have checked out the Dimetapp we have been using and it IS definately Gluten free, so now just need to sort the antibiotic and hopefully we are on the way to recovery!!

Hi Leanne, osrry to hear you are battling more illness! Is it just me or do the reflux kiddies seem to pick up all the bugs and everything easier than other children?? I hope the antibiotics kick in soon and things return to "normal" for you and the family. Hang in There!!!
